Mostly personal preference. I think the Kushin 4 is a little more stable/forgiving. I putted well with the Anser 4J during my fitting (+4) and it’s a great putter, but I’ve always liked blades that are a touch wider than the Anser/Anser 2. At the time I wanted the 4J, but the Kushin 4 is a really nice shape imo, and I think I could use the added forgiveness for those off days.

Flow neck. Toe sits at around 730 if you were looking at a clock face.

It is crazy how small (in a good way) this head is compared to the stock aluminum Sigma 2 Valor. 
 

This is the only PLD Valor I've seen in this thread and I'm interested in this headshape. After reading your comments on it being smaller than the Sigma valor, would you say it's still much larger than the DS72 ? Or similar to a Tyne that's been squared off?

A squared off Tyne. Its front to back dimension is almost identical to the PLD Tyne.

Honey finish - is this similar to Bettinardi Queen B? I have a feeling pictures don’t do it justice, looks similar to a silver finish in them. 
 

Patina finish - how easily and how quickly does this rust? 
 

Any things you did that your regret or would’ve done differently?

I have the patina finish and it hasn’t rusted at all yet. I have had it about 6 months

Did my iPING sessions today and in person fitting Tuesday next week. I was on the line of slight/strong arc so I can see a kushin 4 or Oslo 4 in my future. I’ll keep my options open and see what works best in my fitting though.

Got it almost 6 months to the day after delivery of putter.  Guess about a month or so ago.

What is that face milling called, the straight lines-haven't seen that or maybe haven't noticed it.  Did they give you options for face milling besides the 3 I've seen on their website (smooth, shallow and deep face milling)?

I think they are called horizontal deep grooves, similar to the grooves that hovland has.  You can also get the TR grooves. When I ordered my putter I actually wanted the horizontal deep grooves but ordered it with the TR grooves, actually happy that I did.  I love the TR grooves.

Interesting, I didn’t realize there was a difference, I thought that they were essentially the same.

The horizontal deep grooves are uniform across the whole groove.  The TR grooves are a little deeper near the sweet spot and shallower towards the edges.

Ping calls them “ball width” grooves. They could do them at a shallow, medium or deep depth.

This sold me on the Patina finish! Just put my order in today for a DS72 with white and baby blue paint fills.  Can’t wait to see the final product. 
 

Never would’ve even thought about Patina without seeing some of the posts on this forum.

Got an update today. It was about ready to ship but Alex caught an imperfection before it got out. He said something like this usually happens when a mill starts to get dull and sometimes it can hide until a finish is applied. They’re starting with a brand new head and have prioritized it to ship next week. No troubles, I haven’t played much anyway because Dallas has had some junky weather for a while. Also it gave me a chance to see that I didn’t like the red paint fill on the pepper. I changed it to the same green in the pineapple.

Good on Ping for making it right. (No surprise) Just curious, what do they do with that head with the blemish? Would make a great back up putter for you.

Depends on the company but I had a head remade from another company and the old head they said they'll just use it for demos/fittings so maybe that will be at Ping HQ in the fitting studio. 

 

Or they just scrap them.

If they use it as a fitting head that makes sense. If they were just going to scrap it would make an awesome office putter or travel putter you wouldn’t have to worry about damaging. Or if you’re a shaft nut like me you could toy around with different shafts in the back up head.

With their quality standards for that product line I’m betting that putter has already seen a couple passes through a bandsaw. Really cool that they put a rush on the replacement for you.

I did my virtual fitting back in September.  I went with the Valor as well.  I prefer it to the Oslo or the blade options.

For those who went Patina…

 

Do you think that finish looks better with a normal chrome shaft, or black chrome shaft?  
 

Have a double bend DS72 ordered and debating between those two. Can’t do Matte as they’ve had issues with paint cracking on double bends.

Depending on the finish of the head, I'd go with normal chrome for lighter heads and black chrome for darker heads.  I realize that this is in direct contrast with my choice of a chrome shaft and black neck/head, so take that for what it's worth (which is a whole lot of nothin').
