It's been 3 business days since order was confirmed.  

 

I feel like I should ask my builder how it's going,...

 

I mean, certainly by now all components are sourced and built and on their way to me, right?

 

I'm glad I'm a patient man, otherwise this would be hard.  😉

 

I did, btw consider bending weak but it fouled up my gappings at the bottom, might still do it but not ready to take the wedge purchase plunge.  1* weak did give me 200/300rpm and couple feet of height, don't think much loss in distance at all.   All good things...

My order was sent in March 18. I’m hoping for sometime the week after Easter for delivery just so I don’t think about it. Crappy weather has been a comfort.

LOL, I did!  And . . . the ETA that was given to my fitter previously of heads in last week didn't come to pass, CC now says ETA is April 26.  But the shafts expected to be fulfilled this week are already in and the grips were never an issue, so just waiting for the heads.  Then the song and dance about build time and trying to temper my expectations, lol.  Guy was very polite and came pretty close to guaranteeing I'd see them no later than mid-May and that's actually fine, but 8 weeks from order.  Anything beyond that will give me heartburn, but I know I can't control the process, haha.

I placed my i525 order (end of March) - standard loft/black dot with Project X IO shafts. I had requested different grips (MCC +4) rather than the standard Tour Velvet. It's coming up to 4 weeks...how much longer do you think it'll take? My club pro initially said 3 weeks, but did mention that there's a shortage of grips?

I ordered a set of these on 4/12 and was told 3 weeks. I also wanted the MCC +4 and was told that would be another 4 weeks so I had them ordered without grips and bought them myself. I haven’t checked to see if these are still on schedule, but hopefully they are. Ordered through Ping fitting rep at my club & got 3-PW in DG X100 at +0.5” green dots.

Apparently the heads arrived - my only real concern was heads would be delayed or not enough to go around until a next shipment or whatever. Having said that, received an estimate they may not be in my hands for three more weeks, so that would be a total of a little over 9 weeks since order was placed, which is beyond what was promised.  Heard a lot worse for horror stories with orders the past couple of years, just have to be optimistic and patient!

Is anyone playing these with stock recoil regular flex shafts?  I took my dad in to get fitted and he tried these out.  The Roger Dunn we went too didn't have very many shafts or fit options.  His 7i swing speed was 62mph.  Just seeing if anyone has similar swing speeds and has good experiences?

Finally did check in.  Order placed 4/1.   Everything sourced, grips, shafts and almost all the heads...said they'd send what they had IF they don't get the heads soon.  

 

Patience is a virtue - but happy everything is mostly in stock.   Custom build with steelfibers, nothing stock L/L/L.  

 

Hopefully components get to builder next week...probably be 5-6 total weeks, maybe, hopefully?  But given what I've heard/read...all good.

My 6i was 82-84 - Recoil 95 F3 (regular) is what worked for me - if they ever get here we’ll see how that holds up!

At that swing speed, should look at senior shafts. Probably graphite. Might help with increase swing speed being lighter. Recoils should launch higher too vs. Alta. Also demo G425s to see if they perform better vs. i525s?!

Welp, fitter has them.  We'll see if he has em all or not.  Should be built over the next few days...email says within 10...but I mean...we can do it faster than that. 

 

That would be 4 wks roughly total...

Shipped notice email today.  And annoyed it doesn't already have arrival date.  Because that means technically it hasn't left the building.  29 days since the order went in....think the timing is good.  Pre COVID we'd get stuff in 2-3 weeks... especially from PING (plus builder) so I'm pretty happy with the outcome.  Nothing on backorder nothing missing (according to the shipping notification).

Mine are in the hands of the Master Builder - Builder Master and if things go as expected it will be right around 8 weeks total since fitting date.  Our weather is still crappy so I'm really not missing out on anything by them not arriving.

I think I'm going to have to call in 'scared' to work the day mine come in..."oh, I'm afraid I'm not going to make it today...insert fake illness here....". As I'd bet the old overnight drop shipping CC used to do ain't happening.  I won't be getting these tomorrow...for my Sat/Sun rounds..😎

Very curious as to what your decision will be as the feel and sound is disappointing with the i500's as I hear the i525's are about the same.

I don't think they are the same feel and sound wise, although I had little issue with the I500 in that regard.  I felt as though the i525 muted the sound a bit and almost exaggerated the unique smack it makes when you smoke one. I've also always liked the cast ping feel, so I'm weird...

 

when struck well of course...and was never a fan of range balls, other than at some of the nicer ranges with higher quality balls.  I'm not a range person, so non issue for me...YMMV.

I have not seen one review that said they feel/sound the same. The 525 is a dramatic improvement in terms of sound/feel.

They performed great, but sound and feel are just awful. They are going on bst today.

I'm playing them. I switched from PXGs and i210s. The look is great. The forgiveness is off the charts good. The sound and feel are just as bad as i500 IMO. I will switch to the i230s later this year for sure. It is nice to be able to hit an 8 iron 175 yards though when needed. Its hard to argue with the performance and I am a Ping loyalist but its hard for me to see how Ping thought these were a great improvement in the areas noted. I will probably be keeping the 4 iron in the set because it is just so easy to hit as a driving iron.

Like with any golf club, being outside drastically changes the sound, and sound is most of what makes up "feel." I thought the i525s sounded worse indoors relative to other, similar irons. 

 

However, got them outside and I think they sound great. it's worth noting that only Ping and Wilson don't put some sort of foam inside the hollow iron heads like all other manufacturers for this style.

 

Overall, I also like a bit of audible feedback, take, for instance, I'd lean more toward how a 425 driver sounds than say how muted a TM M6 was. So could be some personal preference on the sound spectrum across the board.

Curious about how the i525 3 / 4 irons are performing for anyone who has them (especially in power spec).

 

I have a G425 3 Crossover that I quite like for approach shots to the green. But, am looking to add more of a low-spin bomber option and the i525 sounds like it fits more into that category.  Have heard the stories about Cameron Champ's i525 4 iron.  While I definitely won't get quite as much out of it as he does, it sounds like exactly what I'm looking for in a low spin high ball speed iron that releases on the fairway.

That’s crazy, I don’t think they sound anything like the 500’s, huge improvement to me. Sound and feel is different for everyone. The 500’s had the loudest “clack” ever. To me the 525’s sound like the 790’s, a muted click to it.
