Vice pro soft?

Looking for a new ball to replace the Wilson Duo Pro, which has been replace by the Triad. The Duo Pro had such a unique soft but not mushy soft feel for a urethane ball. Any opinions on the Vice pro soft? Looks like it might be a good replacement, but hardly any info on this ball.

Personally I have the feeling, that the Vice pro soft is an excellent ball at an descent price. Definitively it depends on what your play characteristics are,

 

It should be perfect for you if

> your Clubheld-Speed (driver) is around 90 mph or lower

> you are searching for a ball that has a softer kind of feeling

> you don't want to pay the double price for the Titleist AVX, which is very comparable

 

if you are harder hitting, maybe the other vice balls are for you - they have a test pack with 2 of each of their balls, with that you can check which one feels best for you

 

I just ordered 5 dozens of the pro soft on the vice website (I think, atm with the bonus code "freedozen" you should get an additional one if you like), because had the same topic. I just started golf last year, and wanted to get to one ball type to eliminate the random effect of random balls to my game - playing golf is hard enough 😉

I tried the Vice pro soft when it was first released. It was originally only available in the matte finish I think. It performed well outside of 8yds for me. As good as anything, but I found it was very low spin on wedges and around the green. However, I think it was due to the matte finish. Not a physicist at all, but it felt like the cover was very “slick” and had no grip on shorter shots. I think they have fixed that issue with new model though.

Also found the Pro Soft being a little too low spinning on shots around the green.

I just rediscovered the Vice Pro, which I think is a pretty soft feeling premium ball that holds up well . It’s their best offering IMO for 100-105 mph driver swing speed players.

I play two balls, Tour BX in the summer, and Vice Pro in the Spring and Fall. I agree, it’s as good as anything else out there. I used it for my entire trip in Ireland and it performed great!

I like their style, too, the „Drip“ versions look pretty cool! 
I have to say though, two years ago when I tested them against other premium balls, they were a little shorter off the driver. Not by a lot, but it was noticeable. Now that I’m playing it again and coming from the AVX and Pro V1, the AVX was the longest, but the Vice Pro was head to head with the 2021 V1. 
It‘s a great ball.

I've played the Vice Pro Soft (newest version) and I find it very good.  Distance wise it was as long as any ball that I've played.  Comes up with a little less spin than you would like when hitting into the greens, but not bad.  

 

Compared it quite a bit to the 2022 AVX and I found the vice Pro Soft superior when it comes to feel and distance.  Spin characteristics were similar.

Just wanted to give an update on the VPS, after playing it for several rounds now. 

The overall feel is what most would consider soft, but not too soft. Definitely doesn't rival my beloved Wilson Duo Pro. 

As for performance, while distance wise, I find it pretty typical of most clubs. The big difference has come off the driver. 

For me, this ball is quite short off the tee/driver. I thought it might be certain conditions I had played in, or just an off day, but I've given this ball enough time now. Could be due to spin characteristics(?), really not sure, but it's short. 

Back to trying to find a replacement again. Not sure that I would trust another DTC product, as it's just too much guess work involved.

I wonder if maybe you should try the Triad.  It's a little firmer than the Duo Pro, but per a friend's use of it, it's plenty long enough, and appears to be close in side wind performance.

Appreciate your input, but the Triad would likely be too firm for my preferences. Ironically, today I noticed that the Duo Pro is restocked at GT. I immediately ordered 2 dozen. Hope I can make them last.

Just wanted to jump in and say I bought a doz of the Vice pro Soft with the neon orange drip finish.  I got suckered by the look and the price (and I haven't been able to get my hands on Chrome Softs locally).

 

Anyway, I got out for nine with them yesterday.  First hole drive was a bomb that I caught perfect and I was impressed right then.  I am a low spin with irons guy.  I rarely back a ball up but darned if I can't back these up a little.  The cover feels almost "rubbery" and extra grippy.  I like that.  What i don't particularly like is that the splatter paint job cuts the shine a bit and makes it hard for me to spot in the grass.  I got poor eyesight and rely on the ball shine to help me find the ball in the rough at times.  I have a buddy that insists on using the matte red ball and I can't see that thing for nothing.

 

I didn't really care for them off of the putter though.

I don't get the whole drip thing or shade. I guess there's only so much you can do with a ball. They are trying. Where others are reducing color choices.

I think thats a decent comparison performance wise with just a slight bit firmer feel.  I actually prefer the feel of the pro soft….its  soft without being too squishy. It performed about as expected with drivers and irons, and i know its not going to be the fastest ball. Defines spins a little less around the green than some of my other balls ive tried, vice pro plus, tp5, prov1. Would be a nice winter time ball too. I also found it was easier to track that fire red color in the air, which was cool.
