Essex vs Crestmont vs Montclair

As title says…any thoughts on Essex vs Crestmont vs Montclair (not Upper Montclair)? Curious about Essex Fells and Forest Hill too. 
 

Any insights on golf course and membership would be much appreciated. Thanks!

They're all expensive, lol!

In all seriousness, I have played Essex Fells and Upper Montclair and IMO Upper Montclair is way better. I think Essex Fells is a little overrated.

Never played Crestmont, but heard good things about the course. It is predominately a Jewish membership, if that matters.

I have a few thoughts, although I haven’t played Crestmont.  These are very different places.  What are you looking for?  Golf club or country club?  Family atmosphere?  Location?

Essex County is the best course out of all of em, but as far as a daily course, its hard.

Forest hill is a short course but a good younger membership

Crestmont is a great course

Essex fells is a  good golf course always in great shape.  

Montclair is a good course as well.

Really depends what you are looking for.

 

Montclair has 36 holes and ample tee time availability but poor practice facilities and, in my opinion, the least interesting/challenging of the golf courses. New pool complex, good pickleball and tennis facilities, big clubhouse, great dining. Probably the strongest on the 'country club' amenities but weakest on the golf.

 

Crestmont and Essex are similar - very challenging, interesting courses (though only 18 holes) with good pool and tennis facilities. Relative to Upper Montclair they are definitely still 'country clubs' but have stronger golf offerings overall. Crestmont invested heavily in clubhouse/pool renovations recently and has much better golf practice facilities than Montclair.
