Masters Cool perks.......

Watching the interview with Ted Scott on the Golf Channel and he said that the Masters Tournament let him take the flag from the eighteenth green. Scheffler has to take it to the Champions dinner and let the attendees sign it...how cool is that!?!

Not 100% true. The defending champ gets to take it from the grounds. If you win again, you get to bring it home again

They can play in the tournament forever. However, they can only play the course if accompanied by a member.

From what I understand they get Honorary Member Status.  I think that gives you more time to play outside of the tournament.  I am not sure if you need a full member to play with you.  I doubt they told Tiger he needed a member to play the week before with Charlie and JT.

I stand by my original statement. Only thing that I'd add is the fact that no matter how many Masters you win, you only get one jacket....

You sure on that? Thought I saw a piece on GC where they showed Jacks locker with his 6 jackets hanging. Am I correct on that?

Faldo was on a Rick Shiels podcast recently, and he talked about having three green jackets, so I would imagine Jack has six.

 Faldo said in an interview that he has 3 and picks the best fit for that year.

Yup, Faldo said he has three jackets and they are all sized to the day he won. He has to tell them ahead of time which one he wants to wear during the week of the invitational.

 

Faldo also said he does not have playing privileges other than the rounds as part of Masters week, he brings his son as his guest every year.

I could be wrong, but I thought the caddie taking the flag for the winner of any PGA tournament was customary.

I think the biggest perk is the lifetime exemption into the tournament (well, "lifetime" until they encourage you not to play anymore once you can't break 85 lol). 

 

At only 25 years old, Scottie can now realistically play in 40 (or more) Masters tournaments from here on out. It's a tough tournament to qualify for and everyone wants in, so to lock it up for life at such a young age is a huge deal. He never has to worry about it again.

Pretty sure Faldo said he wasn’t suppose to have all 3 and it was due to getting resized. I’ll have to listen to that interview again. 
 

Edit: Just listened again and he confirms Jack and Tiger don’t have 6 and 5 in their locker. That year he had 3 was because they didn’t know which one fit and he had them try to make one more “European”.

grm! You solved the mystery of why Faldo has a few jackets!

 

“1. You only get to bring it home for the year after your win. The following year it has to stay at the club and can only be worn on the grounds.

2. If you’ve won before you get the same jacket, unless your size has changed a lot. Tiger hasn’t changed all that much, which is why he seemed happy to say “it fits” when he put it on Sunday.“

 

Given how Faldo has “grown” as he has aged, makes sense he needs new jackets to fit properly.
