Since 1967, Hamilton Tailoring Co. of Cincinnati has been the exclusive maker of the green jacket. But don't even think about trying to order one for yourself... Hamilton Tailoring does not accept orders from the general public for such an iconic article of clothing.

The color of the jackets, known as "Masters Green",  is actually a shade of brilliant rye green known as "Pantone 342."

The green jacket is a classic, three-button, single-breasted and single-vent, featuring the Augusta National Golf Club logo on the left chest pocket. The logo also appears on the brass buttons. 

The tropical-weight wool -- roughly 2 1/2 yards per jacket -- came from the Forstmann Co. mill in Dublin, Ga.

The owner's name is stitched on the inside label of the jacket.

Because of all the materials used, it takes roughly a month to make a single green jacket from start to finish.

It's been reported that the estimated cost to make a green jacket is $250, but no club spokesperson has ever confirmed this publicly.

Multiple Masters winners receive only one jacket.

Interestingly, Nick Faldo, who won the Masters in 1989, 1990 and 1996, had his jacket produced by Nordstrom.

 

No clarity on why Faldo's came from a different supplier.

But he only has one Green Jacket, because that’s how they do things at the club.

The Green Jacket has two strict rules, as well as a rich history explained by PGA.com:

1. You only get to bring it home for the year after your win. The following year it has to stay at the club and can only be worn on the grounds.

2. If you’ve won before you get the same jacket, unless your size has changed a lot. Tiger hasn’t changed all that much, which is why he seemed happy to say “it fits” when he put it on Sunday.

 

Faldo must have more pull than Tiger.......

Lol, I just posted this quote with the conclusion that NF’s increase in cellular volume over the years have necessitated additional jacket production for him ; )

maybe nick found a way to secretly order more jackets.....who knows.

the reason I asked is because I once read an article about Jack who at one time was sponsored by HSM and had his jackets specially made and dyed to match the Masters green jacket and was called by the Chairman at the time and told about the rules of the jacket

Being able to have dinner in the clubhouse on a Tuesday of the Tournament and not being stuck with Daly at Hooters would have to be high up on the list.
