First post, saying hi, looking for fitter recommendations

First off, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. Played golf in high school some 20 years ago at best I was a around a 8hc, didn’t play at all for 15 years then started getting back into it about 5 years ago (less than 5 rounds a year). For the last 2 years I’ve been trying to play more and get better as my better-half’s family are legitimate golf addicts who some have held +hc at some point. Anyways, I’ve caught the golf bug again and have been taking lessons and practicing indoors through this winter in an attempt to not be the obvious hack in our group anymore.

 

My clubs are pretty old (newest club is from 2015) and have never been fit for any of them. Lurking through this site has provided so much knowledge and I think it’s time to go get fit. 
 

I live in SW Montana and the local options are extremely limited and underwhelming. My family is from Massachusetts and her’s live in Vero Beach, Florida, we visit both places once or twice a year so I’m thinking those will produce better if not just more options. I’m not looking for a fitting where I drop $5k+ on a new set but need something more than just “you swing fast so you should be in stiff shafts” type of thing. 

 

 

So my question is this: Who has experiences and/or suggestions where I should look into getting fit in the:

1-MA and surrounding area (can travel a bit)

2-Vero Beach, FL area (won’t be able to travel to other areas)

What are your clubs please.The irons, are you hitting them straight? Shaft flex ok? You gave no real details, sorry.

Got a Putter you love? Find a putter,4 wood,7wood you like from 2013 on eg 913,915 titleist.Then check your irons.

Driver is last on the list....Wedges..50..54..58 of something rusty or tour chrome..look up Sub70🙂

@fireholeWhere in Massachusetts? I lived in Foxboro for a decade, 2012-2021. I moved last July to South Carolina. My Club Builder/Swing Guru/All-Around Cherished Friend, is still up North. We've been together now for 8 years. He is about 90 minutes from Foxboro, but very much well worth any travel.

In the tradition of this forum - usually you just buy 5 or 6 sets of clubs from other WRX members and play them and resell them - convinced you are going to only play your gamer set - until a week later when you find something else you want to play. 
 

…… in all seriousness, I have done fittings, but have had the beet experiences getting a sample club, or finding a used set and trying different shafts and heads to Learn what I like on the course over a few weeks instead of just 6 shots with a 7/6 iron. 
 

you can also go into a PGA Superstore and spend sometime on your own trying stuff. 
 

just something to consider. If you have been playing golf for a long time, you probably have a decent feel for what works and what doesn’t.

Yea I guess it would help if I gave some details on what I have.
 

Cobra Fly Z diamana blue 60 stiff- slice machine don’t hit it much further than 3w

Titleist 915f 3w&5w diamana blue 70 stiff- 3w off the tee is ok, off the deck both can be 2 way miss or pretty decent

MP-53 4-pw DG S300- really comfortable with my irons expect the 4 iron

Vokey SM4 52/56/60- wedges are my strong suit

Ping anser- very streaky

So there are some clubs I do enjoy playing and others that I would be happy to see if I could upgrade.

Sell driver....

Two way miss with woods is Swing Fault,Rotation or Aim at Target fault...possibly swing @ 15% less for more accuracy?

I grew up in the western part of the state but have family and friends all over the state.

If you know where The Ranch Golf Club is in Southwick, MA, he is 45 minutes from there. Easy drive, avoid AM/PM rush hour. 

 

If you know where Mike's Golf Outlet is in Hartford, CT, he is 10 minutes away from there.

Just wanted to update this as I had a fitting with Kyle @ Chris Cote's Golf Shop in CT. I don't have anything to compare it to as it was my first time but I thought it was great. Had the fitting at their performance center in Portland where you hit from an indoor bay with a roll up door out onto the range so you can see the actual flight and have trackman numbers. Kyle was great and was not pushy at all, I would go back again.
