Mizuno stz 220 should be way more popular

This driver is very very good.. Got paired up with some random guys recently and they were asking what driver I was playing after the first few holes (after hitting some great drives). They were absolutely stunned when I told them it was a Mizuno. To be fair, I never had any interest in anything Mizuno related except their irons. Had to give this thing a try and glad I did. What a gem.

The only driver I haven’t hit so far …have to give this a try if it’s that easy to hit

I've been very interested in trying this out as well. I believe a couple of the Good Good guys play this driver (Garrett and Grant). I just haven't had a reason to move away from my Epic Flash SZ with Tensei av blue. As long as I don't get too handsy(sp?), it's a long bombing fairway finger

TXG did a comparison between the 2021 STZ and the 2022 STZ-220.  They had a new guy hitting the drivers and he hit the 2021 version about 10 yards farther.  He sprayed a few shots around and the landing area included a nearby tree that caught some shots in the graphics they were using.

My season here in Montreal Canada is effectively over now. I have game this driver for the entire season. I started the year as approximately a 6.8 index I am finishing the season as a 3.6 which is my career lowest.

 

I was a person who had the driver yips for close to 15 years and only put it back in the bag with the Cobra f9 speed back followed by the speed zone model. I originally tried the ltdx this year but somehow my fitting for a 9 degree head while it was great in the simulator I could not get the height I wanted and was very inconsistent with it. I returned it immediately and after doing some further testing thought that the Mizuno would be the best choice for me.

 

I think on purest hits the Cobra could potentially be 5 yards longer maybe 10 at maximum.

However if one looks at the total number of drives over a season the Mizuno would definitely be longer because I have had Mrs all over the face that my playing partner said great shot as the result was still fairly straight with minimal ball movement in either direction despite a heel a toe hello or a high shot..

 

I have had no trouble putting a fade on it and I could draw it as well..

It has become the favorite club in my bag.

The only way I would consider changing it is if the newer model is somehow better.

Anyone still have this in the bag? I've been playing it since release with a Ventus Blue 6X. I've tried to replace it a few times but I have yet to find something as consistent. I lofted it down to 7.5 and I can hit a flat fade on demand. My favorite thing about this driver is the forgiveness. I've tried the lower spin drivers chasing the few extra yards but the miss hits are too punishing. With the 220 I'm always in play and it is just as long as anything I have tried. IMO if you slapped a TaylorMade or Titleist logo on this instead of Mizuno it would still be insanely popular to this day.

Bought one a couple of years ago to have a driver that mimicked the forgiveness of my wife's G400 Max driver, and the STZ-220 doesn't disappoint.

 

It took a bit of experimenting to find a shaft that I got along with in this driver head, but I think I finally settled on a Fubuki V.

 

This thing is so incredibly forgiving and easy to hit, it'll be in the bag for a while.
