My putting problem

I agreed with a lot of your experiences above. As someone who is currently selling off gear to buy a LAB putter this kind of confirms what I always assumed. No putter is going to "make putts for you". The LAB putter may be a purer roll for me (which is helpful) but unless every putt I have is 8 ft or less and dead straight, there are a number of other variables that will ultimately come to influence the success of that putt. 

 

But, yeah, should I just stick with my Seemore? Am I chasing an equipment fix for a bad stroke?

I have zero issues with LAB. It is a phenomenal product. I still use my Mezz when things are really off. The roll is just so pure it is so hard to not use it everyday. The tech is real and the forward press grip is really awesome. 
 

No equipment will fix a bad stroke. Still need to groove a decent stroke somehow. However this certainly does mask any issues you have rolling the ball. So it’s really your call. Realistically, you can’t go wrong. My guess is you may make some more putts and roll it really well once you figure it out. But I don’t think this magically bring your putts per round down by 5 putts. Just my opinion.

could it be because of the weight of the putter ? I also have one, and i hardly ever play it anymore. it's a good putter, but i feel as though there's no weight in the head.

I would imagine if you're doing practise swings to a certain position back and forth, then you do a final check of the distance needed to the hole, that you don't feel like your practise swing was the correct weighting for the shot ?

 

How about you try not to take a practise swing first ?

Do you know how far back and through you should putt for say 10ft, 20ft, 30ft ? If you know these, then take appropriate lenght practise swings for your current putt.

or, combine both "this is a number 3 putt" then either practise your "number 3" distance then commit, or just skip the practise, repeat over the ball that it's a "number 3" and play a "number 3" swing.

I recently had a putting lesson that has proven to be a real revelation. 

 

The pro pointed out that many of the best putters on Tour today focus on making sure their follow-through is the exact same length with every stroke. Whether the putt is short or longer, they try to intentionally stop the putter head around 10-12" past impact. 

 

This has helped me in two ways.

 

First, I'm accelerating through putts a lot more which seems to put a great cup-seeking roll on the ball. 

 

Second, it has freed my mind from doubts about my takeaway, path, distance control, etc. Focusing on nailing the follow-through position lets my brain relax and perform.
