Cincinnati golf options?

Planning to head to Cincinnati in July for a few baseball games (my friend is a huge Reds fan 🤮), and we might try to squeeze in a round one morning before one of the games.

 

I'm going to look into having my Pro get us onto one of the private courses, but if that doesn't work out... what are some of the best public options somewhat close to the area? We'll have one car so willing to drive but would probably want to keep it within 30-45 minutes of downtown Cincy.

Haven't been there myself but you may want to look at Stonelick Hills in Batavia.  Couple of my good friends rave about it and I'm planning on getting there myself this year.

 

One a bit further north is Shaker Run in Lebanon.  I haven't played there in over 5 years since I moved east but I love it.

Stonelick Hills is by far the best public option in the Cincinnati area IMO.  But also several other good options.  Legendary Run on the east side of greater Cincy; Blue Ash Golf Course in Blue Ash, OH, northern Cincy; Lassing Pointe in Union, KY; Shaker Run is still a nice public course but not as nice as it once was (though prices have also dropped there to reflect it).

Aston Oaks is another solid one that's not too far from downtown. If you're staying downtown I would do one of Aston, Blue Ash, Legendary or Lassing. The others mentioned are great but are closer to that 35-40min. 

 

We really are spoiled with the public golf we have in this area.

All those mentioned are great options.  I'd also throw in TPC River Bend if you can get a time. My buddies and I made a day of it and the Reds a couple of years ago and the course was in great shape and the staff there was fantastic.

Something in Northern Kentucky a great track is Traditions Golf Club in Hebron..  probably 20 minutes to downtown Cincy

Nowhere 😉. We didn't end up making the trip.

 

There was just one week / weekend it worked out for us to go with schedules, and for whatever reason hotels and flights to Cincinnati where 3-4x the normal price that weekend...

How'd you get on Rivers Bend?  AFAIK they're private & you have to play with a member.

There is events there sometimes as well or boxgroove etc. Course has always been in superb condition when I have played it too

I tried to figure out why, and the only ting that came up was some sort of music festival. I remember thinking 3 things when I saw that:

 

1) I had never heard of half the bands in the lineup

2) I was shocked to see that the ones I had heard of are still playing live 

3) People actually travel to Cincinnati for this???

Yes this is a huge event for Cincy and it hasn't been able to be held for a few years due to COVID.  The football stadium is used and it brings in millions to the local economy.  If it was this coming weekend you were looking for, this is probably what caused the flight cost increases.

IIRC, there was was a promotion email I received from TPC and there were several dates throughout the summer that you could get tee times at half dozen or so TPC courses. 
 

We played Rivers Bend twice doing this a few years apart. None of us live around Cincinnati, though I don’t know if that mattered or not.
