Ultralight Driver shaft recommendations

So I need a 40g driver shaft for someone. I don't deal with too many ultra lights so I could really use some recommendations. Right now my top pick is the 40g version of the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue.

Anyone got anything better?

Bassara is expensive but good. Cypher should be cheaper.

I just re-shafted with a GolfWorks/Maltby MPF Pro Series UL. IMO it's as good as Pro Launch Blue, at a better price. I like the looks better too.

I've had good results with the Fujikura's Air Speeder 40. A little spendy.

Well, based on my results from trying a ladies hybrid yesterday, I'm gonna say Bassara all day every day and twice on Sunday.

I have tried several 40 gram shafts .I had a GD IZ 4R1  for a long time.it  was beat out by a MCA  ZF 40 which has superior feel and great dispersion.I have had the ZF now for 2 1/2 years which is a long time for me.I moved it from a Flash  to the new Rogue LS.

What kind of player?, whats the planned specs ?

Since Grafalloy is on your list, let med add a few options you can find for next to nothing.
- Grafalloy Booyah - Same weight range as PL 45, but you will also find a x flex option (50 grams as 46"), (not really X, but more like where we find S, or the actual option to PL 45 S if that was the plan). In that case Booyah X is slightly stronger only, and Booyah can be tip trimmed, PL 45 series should NOT be tip trimmed)

Another Grafalloy option is the Blackbird. Its officially 52 grams or a little above the sub 50 range, but its 47 long, (51 grams comparable wgt) and CW weighted, so depending on build and player type, this might be the ticket. (long play length, older player who wants to reduce his loss of distance due to age.)

He is in his late 60s, early 70s

Slower speed and just looking to get whatever distance he can. Plan right now is to go 40g, light flex, and pull at least 6-8g out of the head. Length will probably be 45 1/2 but might go 46 as the starting point so we can easily work backwards.

Booyah is a nice shaft, but they've been out of production for at least five years.

i know, but if this was a budget project (PL Blue often is), then they could be found for next to nothing because its discontinued. Blackbird has the same status, its no longer in production, but new shafts can still be found, and for THIS project like described now, the Blackbird would be the best option of the 3 Grafalloy models.

5th Gen. Diamana™ PD-Series 40, expensive, but the best shaft I have ever hit, long and straight, very consistent.

Aldila Ascent 40 - You have likely finished but I just hit it yesterday.  Depending on Tempo you could likely go to the Ascent 35 - R2 Flex which weighs 41 grams.  Reason is that I have a smooth tempo and I was swinging 93 - 94 MPH yesterday using an Ascent 40 - in R flex and it was stable with solid strikes (comes in at 47 grams).  As it's a relatively new shaft it will be a bit on the pricey side.
