Minneapolis to Sand Valley Recs

Hey boys, heading to Sand valley next month with 3 guys with 3 days of golf planned. Flying into MSP from LAX and then driving down towards Nakoosa. Playing 2 days at SV then planning on playing 36 at Lawsonia day 3 before heading back to MSP and flying home on day 4. The question is, Is Lawsonia the right decision or is there a better option back towards Minneapolis? I know we are committing sac relig by not flying to Milwaukee and playing Whistling & or Erin Hills/Kohler but we just couldn't make the flights work from California w out long  layovers and double the cost for airfare. I am a huge hidden gem guy (we are all walkers) so excited to play Lawsonia and don't really care about adding another 90 minutes each way but figured I would ask all you cheese heads. 

 

Been to Bandon about a dozen times so excited to see what the Keiser family has done with that magnificent Heathland area in central Wisconsin. Thanks in advance for the advice

Two tracks worth playing near MSP but on way to/back from SV are StoneRidge and Troy Burne.

 

SV is a blast! Last time there we planned on playing Lawsonia but were rained out. But it is on our play list for this summer as part of our MSP, Wisconsin and Chicago road golf trip. Not playing SV this year; waiting to go back after the 2 new courses are open.

 

Have fun on your trip! Craig’s Porch is best deal in golf. Tacos and frozen margaritas!

Yes! Came here to say this. TB is a Lehman design and usually in really good shape. SR is a great track too, not quite as spacious as TB from the tees but not many courses are.

Second this. Stone Ridge and Troy Burne are both really really good tracks and are both right on the border of MN and WI so logistics work perfectly for this.

Lawsonia is better than Troy Burne, but not extra 2 hours of driving better in my opinion. I'd rather play 3 days at SV than those options though. For me, I wouldn't go out of the way for Lawsonia and I'd do Troy Burne. I love Bandon, best golf resort in the country (world?). But I've never had more fun than the fun I have at Sand Valley, I could play those 2 courses (plus the par 3) every day for the rest of my life.

Another vote for Troy Burne being a really good course, although never played Lawsonia so can't help on that front.

May be too late for OP to book it, but this is the best suggestion in the thread.
