"Top 25 Public Courses..."

According to a survey by the Dallas Morning News, the top public course under $59 is in Texarkana.

Here's the list.   Compiled by a long list of active golfers.

San Antonio has two courses on the list:   Willow Springs and Cedar Creek.   I've played neither.

I don’t either. I’ve played public golf in Texas all my life (except for a 3 year stint at a private club).  Yet I’ve only played 1 course on that list

Played golf Texas all my life as well mostly at private clubs. I have played 6 courses on that list but only 1 of those was recently in the last 10 years. That was Watters Creek in Allen. The others were all pre-1990. I cannot imagine that Squaw Valley in Glen Rose would not make that list. I liked it far better than any of the 6 I have played. But what do I know.

It's best public courses under $59, I'm assuming they are taking Saturday rates, so most of those courses are terrible.  They bump it up to even $70, the list would get much better.

I played Delaware Springs outside of Burnett and its a pretty fun track.

I have played 13 of the courses. They are all so close but i think Cedar Crest is ranked too low and i might move Delaware Springs up to 1.  I thought Rockwood was under $59 but i guess only if your walking.

on layout alone I definitely agree with cedar crest but the conditions of that place over the last year have been abysmal. here is a green on Friday

I knew they were having issues and even closed for a bit but man that is sad to see.  I wonder why they are having so many issues when the other Dallas munis are just fine?

good question. they are hosting several qualifiers out there over the next few months, not sure how they get it ready.

I played Riverside in San Antonio this past Friday.   It's not on the list, probably because the back 9 is boring.  But the front side is very interesting.

The fairways were lush.   The greens were smooth. 

I wish muni courses were always in this shape.

Must be why Squaw Valley didn't make it. They're at $59.75.
