From 30 to 110 yds I use 47 degree PW.  Inside 30 yds I have a similar clock method with more of a  chipping UTB move.  This method works for me:

Monte's wedge videos are really good in and of themselves. 

 

The other aspect that I've incorporated from just practicing stuff like NTC is speed control in my swing. If we're talking clock, a 52 degree wedge with my arm at 9 o'clock can cover all of those distances depending on how I control my speed, which increases my touch overall substantially.

Do you think about how much your arm should go back when shooting an 8 foot jump shot vs a 14 foot jump shot?

Question to those who "feel" these shots rather than use a "system": 

 

What the heck to you do on blind shots or shots where you can't see the whole flagstick/green complex?

 

This is why I believe people should have some sort of system for half-wedges. Doesn't have to be the clock system. I just intentionally vary stance width and gripping down to provide "natural constraints" on motion inside about 65 yards. I also strongly believe learning a trail arm parallel swing is crucial for longer half wedges. For me: 

 

Right Arm Parallel (bottom of armpit)=70 yards 

 

Right Arm 3/4 (bottom of jaw)=80 yards 

 

Full Lob Wedge=90 yards

Not directly, but you work on specialized fundamentals (e.g. footwork off the catch, ball pickups off the dribble, jumping directions) that are different on a 10 foot jumper vs a 28 foot jumper.
 

I believe the same sort of mentality is required for great wedge play. Find a system, practice it, and then allow inner athleticism to take over under pressure.

The better analogy would be tossing a ball. You don’t really need to know much technique to lob a ball underarm to a target. “It’s just that far…”
