I have not read the book, but just hearing about it, what would really be a "big' bombshell that we don't already know/have heard or be super shock by? And also, what third party would drop that information? It would have to be something so extremely crazy and behind the scenes to shock everyone. 

 

 

Shipnuck repeatedly teases some "explosive" story that he was told (I believe by a Vegas gambler but I may have the details wrong), that would cause shockwaves if he could report it.  But it was expressly told to him off the record, so he can't.

 

I almost wish Shipnuck didn't mention it at all if he can't say what it is... all it does is let everyone's imaginations run wild.

As damaging as the excerpts of Shipnuck's book were to Mickelson's reputation -- there were additional allegations that he lost more than $40 million gambling from 2010 to 2014 -- people close to Mickelson say he's more concerned about another upcoming book. Walters' memoir, which is being co-authored by journalist Armen Keteyian, will be released sometime next year. Now, nearly all of Mickelson's endorsements have dried up. Longtime sponsors Amstel Light, KPMG and Workday ended their relationships with him. Callaway, which in 2017 signed Mickelson to a contract through the end of his playing career, paused its relationship with him.

 

If Walters' book is as explosive as anticipated, the damage might not be over. A source told ESPN, "Billy Walters is not a man to be trifled with."

Several of us here were even more than disappointed with his comments, regardless of how we felt about the main issue. Was unnecessary and tawdry.  Leave family out of it.

What are you talking about? "Tawdry"? He had a conversation with someone whom he could not identify and with whom he could not take notes or record. So he couldn't use it or talk about it other than to say there is more stuff out there. I think that is fair.

To me, and others here, the implication was it involved infidelity or worse, but while he couldn’t “talk about it”, he went ahead and mentioned it.  Letting everyone who heard it make their own assumptions, none good.  If you can’t talk about it, don’t talk about it.

Other than his accomplishments on the course as a PGA professional golfer (which are many), Phil deserves zero notoriety.

Innocent until proven guilty.  Ya'all already had Mickelson guilty as charged on all those claims before there was any supported evidence. The actual evidence in this case is the lack of action by Phil and his lawyers. Accusing someone of cheating employees is defamation if it’s not true. Publishers don’t take that risk without receipts. There was no cease and desist letter from Phil’s lawyers to the publishing house, there’s been no defamation suit filed since publication, there hasn’t even been a generalized “don’t believe everything you read” response.
 

I wouldn’t consider Bones’ classy response to this, his keeping his mouth shut, as evidence that it’s not true. He and his wife are very close to Amy and the kids and they’re not going to make their lives more difficult or more public.
