Bizarre shaft tip pull guidance

Have been doing my own grips for a while. 

recently got an extractor and finally pulled my first few shafts. 2nd pull was a diamana from a TM M2 and had bizarre tip cap. Any advice on how to proceed to reuse the shaft would be appreciated

Looks like dried epoxy from the shaft install to me.

What this guy said. It's just extra epoxy that formed a little cap like that from the way the tip adapter is at the bottom. Should be able to get it off with a razor blade like you'd use to prep a new graphite shaft, if that fails take a tiny tiny drill bit and drill a hole in the center, or take a long thing piece of rebar, insert through the grip end of the shaft and use it to ram out the epoxy.

Thanks for the help! Thought it was epoxy, but wasn't certain. Had to drill a small hole to work it all out but eventually got it.

Go to a hardware store and buy a 4' length of 1/8" rod (brass preferred).  Insert from butt end and more often than not, it will pop out of the tip.  If it doesn't, you need to take a drill bit and remove the epoxy in the centre.

Yeah, a 4ft very thin piece will pop out the old epoxy no issue.

Not in my experience.  Drilling is usually the only option with graphite shafts.

The trick is to do it right after you pull it, that way it's still soft. Used to do it a few times a week back during my days in the golf biz.

I've used a piece of metal coat hanger about 10" long and tap it back inside towards the b u t t and it will usually fall right out. Didn't know they made rebar that thin.

I used to use this back in the day but not much need for it anymore.

I do that on almost all my pulls, little drilling and it is fine

the link says for graphite shafts, will it work for steel irons? If so I need one
