So I need a hybrid ... Help!

All my clubs this year are fitted - Tsi2 Driver Tour AD DI6 stiff 

 

Tsi2 3 wood Tour AD DI 7 - I love it so Much I've ordered the Matching 5 wood

 

T100S 3-PW 52 58 SM9..... 

I need a 215-220 club that I can hit HIGH.  I hit my 3 iron fine and love it but when i need to carry something I can't.  And it's horrid from the rough.

 

Naturally I've tried the Tsi2 hybrid and hated it - Used the TSi3 on and off last year and thought it was pretty good.  not amazing.  Bad on thin hits.

 

What else should I try? 

I hit the Callaway Rogue ST pro whatever it's called and REALLY liked it. 

 

I hated the Stealth.  I loved the old cobra hybrids but the new one is horrid.  Hook machine.  

I also realize I'm not good enough for a driving iron / utility - too many mishits.

 

Any recommedations?

As a hybrid connoisseur that owns and carries a lot of them, I've found the Ping hybrids to be the best for forgiveness and accuracy.

I have a 20 year old 17 Nickent that i trust more than my wife and hit it 220-230. You couldnt pay me enough to get rid of it. BUT, with that being said, I recently stumbled across the Callaway Rogue ST Pro in 18*. Just browsing the “Used” section at Golf galaxy i see this motha and figured i’d give it a shot. Thing is HOT!!! well, at least compared to my fossil of a hybrid. I’m hitting it 20 yards further consistently and off the tee i’ve hit it 290 a couple times downwind with some run(20 yards). The shaft may not be ideal but i’ll work on that. Got the Tensei white x-flex in it right now. 

 

On a side note, i like the look of the Ping(mentioned in posts above), Titleist TSi2, Srixon ZX, and Mizuno.

Rogue ST Max Heavenwood.  Replaced the hybrid in my bag.  Goes a long way.  Can go REALLY high.  Lands like a butterfly with sore feet.  Great off the tee, off of a nice fairway, out of the rough, or the Pinehurst gunch.

Ping or Callaway UW might be fun.  Ping hybrids set up nice and flat.  The UW is an interesting shape as it’s kind of a tweener.

I have a Ping G400 w/Kuro Kage 85X shaft, cut down 3/4".

 

It doesn't help me when I make a bad swing, but it is a very reliable club when I am playing decently.  Just 2 days ago, I had hit a terrible hook on a par 5 and was hitting out of some desert grass.  But it had given me an odd window between and over some trees that I don't normally have access to. I told my buddy "hey, watch this, I am going to try and hit this hybrid over the trees and draw it around toward the hole".  I did exactly that and it left me with only a short chip, which is quite a recovery given how bad my drive was!  When I am swinging well, it is the most reliable club in my bag. 

 

I would start there.  Mine carries 225-240 depending on the swing and whether I choke down or not.  Plenty of spin as well.  I use it on long par 3s when wind is in my face.

get a 5,7 or 9 wood and set it at what ever loft that works for you.

You have a 5W (do you have it, or is it inbound??), but that's all you tell us. Seems like 5W would slot nicely between a 3i (for clean lies) and 3W. How far does 5W fly? If gapping a problem, consider a 7W instead of 5W.

7W and be done with it.  Easiest 215 high trajectory you will ever hit and more versatile than hybrid.

 

 And perhaps psychological, but with a 7W you never have to think like a hybrid “do I swing this like an iron!?”  You swing it like any FW and watch it be one of the easiest clubs you will ever hit.

i ended up picking up a cobra hybrid from last year F9 Speedzone in 21 deg!  Stiff Recoil Shaft.

 

I demoed one last year and loved it... Very neutral perhaps fade bias.  Plus they were on sale.

 

So Ill have Driver 3 wood set to 15.75 5 Wood set to 18.75 and 21 hybrid then into 4 iron.  Dropping a wedge was the best decision I've made in years.  Opens up the top of the bag for multiple options

Callaway Apex UW 19* or 21* with GD Tour AD DI or IZ.  This club is a blend of a wood/hybrid and versatile. I have the 17* with DI 7s for the reasons you described.  This a great combo for me. I have the IZ 6x in my driver.

21* Callaway UW is worth trying. I’m a below average ball striker and have found it to be one very easy to hit and versatile.

I agree with those suggesting the Callaway UW.  Great off the tee and out of the fairway for me; and definitely no hook bias that I can find. Another one that currently resides in my bag is the Callaway Epic Super Hybrid, good from everywhere for me; and exceptional for me out of the rough.  Good luck!

Are hybrids draw biased?  I find that when I swing poorly, mine hooks, but when I get my hips through the zone while holding my hands back a bit, It flies straight to just a touch of draw

Some set up a smidge that way. I game cally long stuff and I have found the pro models like the Mav.RogueST Pro (Apex in general) are more rounded and set neutral where as some of the regular models are a smidge draw biased in flight but hook machines they are not 🙂

 

OP you already discovered the rounded pro model and if it doesn't fit your flight window a nice 21d 7 wood could do you fine. 

 

I go back and forth with a 7w and 3h depending on course/wind and for the most part 7w is winning for me which is a bit sad because I do like hitting the Mav pro 3H: more confident at times with that shorter hybrid shaft.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max 3/19 degree. I hated the Stealth also. Did not feel right and did not perform.

 

SIM is the only hybrid I’ve ever liked.

I just got one brand new after I traded in my G400 hybrid

I thought the G400 was easy to hit but the 410 puts it to shame

Track down an 818H2 if you can. I don't think the newer Titleist hybrids are as good, the TSi3 is pretty good but I prefer the look of the 818.
