Rating the Pinehurst courses (resort and others)

The way it was described to me is that they don't know if they will keep going the queue route or go back to phone calls. I would imagine for more desirable months the queue makes sense for them but other months it'll be just a phone call. Either way takes more effort to book bandon now days. I would still highly recommend it over pinehurst IMO even with the extra hoops.

Another question for you fine folks who have stayed at the resort:

Let me preface this by saying all things being equal I dont care where I sleep.  Looking for the cheapest bed all things being equal.

 

That said, I'm looking at the Manor and the Holly.  The cost appears to be the same.  Does anyone have compelling reason to pick one over the other?  They both seem about the same distance away from "stuff".  Is one more convenient than the other for whatever reason?  I know the Manor just got renovated.

@Pepetito I would steer you towards the manor because of the renovation but either will be just fine. My last visit I was at the Holly and had zero complaints. My group enjoyed the North and South Bar at the Manor a couple of nights. 

 

The Holly has a restaurant in it, 1895 Grill, and a little pub area called The Tavern. You can get a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner at The Holly and I don’t think that’s the case at the Manor. They have something called the market but it’s more grab and go from what I remember.

The manor got a refresh in 2019 or 2020 and the new rooms appear pretty nice (haven’t stayed in one). The North South bar is there too which my group enjoyed for a nightcap on a couple of nights.

Is the Holly more walkable to stuff than the Manor?  Looked like the Manor was a 5 minute walk to "downtown" Pinehurst and right next to Pinehurst Brewing Co.

I have to weigh in on the Cradle. Extremely overrated, and nowhere close to the standards of similar short courses at BD and The Olde Farm. My group doesn't even play it anymore on trips to PH.

yeah even though the manor has been renovated, I’d do the Holly for the dining convenience

We got breakfast with our package.  Isnt the breakfast setup way better walking over to the Carolina?  Or does that get super busy and if we want something quick we may like getting in and out of the Holly?

the best breakfast is the Carolina buffet yes. But the holly is still a full hot breakfast and was plenty good for me. The manor is more like a grab and go market set up.

Just walk over to the Carolina, it's a 5 minute walk and it's worth it.  You can shuttle but by the time you've waited on the shuttle you could have already been there. It's a breakfast buffet so unless you just want a grab and go sandwich that you can get at the clubhouse its fairly quick to eat at the carolina.
