ASICS GEL-ACE PRO M shoe review

I bought the new ASICS last week when they came out and was able to walk 9 holes today at my local track. I wear a size 13 (big feet - big shoes). They foot true to size. I wear a 13 in every shoe that I own so don’t ask me if they fit small or big. The size 13 shoe fits my size 13 foot like every other shoe. For comparison, I wear a 13 in Adidas ZG’s if that helps. These shoes are incredibly comfortable. This is my second pair of ASICS golf shoes. I had an older pair that I liked a lot (I cant remember the name of them) but the older version were kind of stiff. These shoes are amazing and soft with still plenty of stability in the shoe.

 

I had zero issues with the fit during my round. The leather is super soft and will be easy to clean. Plenty of traction with the spikes. My local course has some semi hilly holes (up and down hill) and again, zero issues with the fit or comfort going up or down hills. I unfortunately had a few bunker shots to hit and there were zero issues creating a stable platform to hit shots. 

 

I have terrible feet and suffer from plantar fasciitis and these shoes didn’t hurt my feet at all. I thought that my Adidas ZG’s were great walking shoes but I have to say these might be better. I have a pair of Super Feet insoles in the ZG’s and the new ASICS have the stock insoles. I am unsure if I will put aftermarket insoles in the ASICS. They have plenty of support for my arch as is.

 

My only complaint would be the laces. They are a soft cotton material and I could see these getting dirty pretty easy. Some golf shoes have a wax type substance on the laces to help repel water and dirt. I wish these had something like that.

 

I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone thinking about getting some new shoes to walking.

Been using the Gel Course glides... They are fantastic for walking.  Have kicked my Pro SL to the curb.

Thanks for the review! Unfortunately Asics is not selling shoes in (at least continental) Europe, would love to buy a pair of those.

Are the newer ones actual leather? I had a pair several years ago that were really comfortable & held up well but ended up smelling really bad.

Zero issues with mine. I have been rotating them with my ZG’s and Tour 22’s so I don’t wear out one shoe. Admittedly I tend to wear these on nicer tracks because I like the styling of the shoe over the Tour 22’s which by the way, are comfortable too.

Thanks for the great review!  How would you say these compare as far as underfoot cushion feel compared to the zig’s? (Softer, firmer, same?)

That is a great question. It is hard to say since I have aftermarket insoles - Super Feet Green inn the ZG’s and the ASICS are stock. I just walked 9 this afternoon in the ZG’s and as usual, they didn’t disappoint. The ASICS are also quite cushiony. I know that this doesn’t answer your question but gun to my head, both have about the same cushioning.
