Kingston, NY recs?

Traveling up to Kingston next weekend, for the first time in months I won't have a dog, wife, or baby with me. I know Saturday morning times are hard to get anywhere in June, just need any recs for courses within 30 min that are in decent shape and have good reps for pace of play. 

 

It's my first round after a big layoff, so I'm not exactly going to be picky about layout or difficulty.

Only course up there that i have played is called Apple Greens. Its about 20 mins south of Kingston.  Usually in great shape, but its been a few years since playing there.

The Links at Union Vale and Casperkill are the good public options in that area. A little further than apple greens but good courses.

 

Centennial is couple minutes further but also good.

Inness just opened its king Collins which is the same group that did sweetens cove

I'll second The Links at Union Vale and Casperkill in that order.  

 

You are about an hour away from west point if you want that experience.  Have not got out there in a couple of years however so can't speak of conditions.

Thanks for the recs. I forgot to mention I have to be back to Kingston proper by the early afternoon for a wedding, so some of the options farther away don't  appear to fit the schedule. I think I can hustle over to Inness for 18 within reason, depending on what times they have available. 

 

I also saw two halfway decent looking options (Wiltwyck and Red Hook) but they are semi-private and I would guess they restrict Saturday morning tee times to members only.

Unionvale is a better course but not that close to Kingston

Red hook is ok. 

 

Got through the round fast but the greens were running like 4 on the stimp 😂

 

Wouldn't make a special trip there.

Unionvale is probably my favorite course in that area.   Havent played it in a few years.

Unionvale usually has no weekend early times.  If you have to be back quick.  I would go a bit further and play centennial.   They always have early tee times available and you will be in an out in 4 hours no problem if you play before 7.  It is on the expense side but the course is always in great shape and well designed.

 

I haven't played inness yet so I can't comment on that one.
