Wouldn't shock me.  I'm sure his gambling addition is impacting his marriage and by the looks of him could be leading him to other addictions?  Phil has his vices with money but he's always given the fans a great experience.  I wish him well.

Can you just enlighten me a bit on why?  I'm not trying to be flippant or start an argument, I just don't fully grasp the backlash exactly.  

 

So is it because he said the Saudi's are scary #$#$'s?  It wouldn't seem so....since I think any "reasonable" person would probably agree, when you have more money than God and a track record of crap decision making, you are, right?  He probably shouldn't have said that out loud, but whatever, it's between him and the scary mother #$#$'s who are his new bosses.

 

Is it because he said he was using the negotiation as leverage against the PGA tour?  Again, who cares?   Isn't that what every athlete does?  How many NFL guys are sitting out OTA's at the moment to get a bigger contract?  Again, he probably shouldn't have said it out loud, it's a bit too honest for public consumption.  But in the end, that's what they are all doing, it's a business. 

 

Is it because he's taking $200M in guaranteed money just to show up and play?  It can't be the money itself, right?  I would imagine anyone here on the board can understand how $200M is a significant motivator. 

 

Is it because he's taking it from Saudi backed investment groups?  Um....if you buy gas at the gas pump, you're supporting the same country.  So in the end, isn't that hypocritical?

 

Again, I genuinely want to understand what the core issue is, I'm struggling a bit to see it.

Every pic I’ve seen of that event reminds me of a bunch of middle aged high powered multi millionaires in some creepy club overseas doing creepy things they wouldn’t want their wives, families or neighbors knowing about.

The nonsensical false equivalency argument.   It's a global economy so we often have no choice of whom we buy products sourced from and do business with.  But there's a world of difference between "doing business with" vs being a "pawn of." These are sports pawns so that Saudi Arabia can continue to sportswash and divert attention away from their brutal regime and as facilitators of radicalization that got us 9-11 terrorist attacks.    

 

Saying stuff like Khashoggi will get you murdered by the same guy behind this league...
