M4 to Stealth - picked up a push cut??

Hi all, curious if anyone making the change to the Stealth head has seen ball flight changes? I kept my shaft from the old M4 head and installed the stealth. Went from 9.5 degree to 9 degree. I can NOT stop hitting push cuts or even fades that are borderline slices, when I had mostly a baby cut, or even pully baby draw with the M4. This has been going on since April. Thought I was losing my mind so I weighed both heads - both the exact same. I wonder if the weighting distribution is different? I even moved the slider to full draw (which I dont want to do) and cut, cut, cut.

 

Changed out for the old M4 head yesterday, and shocker- straight to baby draw all day. The head does indeed feel heavier even though it isnt.

 

Any ideas??

Have you tried lofting up the Stealth to close the face? Perhaps it's more open than the M4 is/was. I'd put the slider back to neutral, hit some, then loft up and see the change, Then possibly revisit the slider position depending on results.

Is this with a Stealth+ or Stealth? Like @bnperronementioned, changing the loft will open or close the face which can also effect the shot shape.  I had to do this with my Sim 2. Lofting up should help with closing the face.

No change in shot shape for me except that the M4 had a higher trajectory.  I went from the M4 to SIM, SIM 2 then Stealth+.  Still hitting my stock draw but I do miss with a push cut more often than the duck hook nowadays which is a pleasant surprise.

I don’t have a stealth but I had the same experience going from titleist 917 to sim2 max. Just seems like I can’t get the face closed. Draws all day with the titleist. I was wondering if it was a swing weight issue for me. The titleist head feels heavier slightly. Might not be but in the setup I have it does compared to the TM

Loft up on the loft sleeve. Add lead tape to the bottom rear of the club in 2g increments until flight settles in. Add 2g, hit about 10 balls, then add more if needed and hit more balls...until you get it right.

Went from a 10.5° sim max with my ventus red 5s to a 10.5° stealth with the same shaft. 
 

not to many changes to my flight but that little bit more forgiving.  Kinda like hitting a ping without that heavy head feeling or sound for me.

Agree. Sounds like a swing weight issue.

Have argued with people on here about this but in general I find TM drivers like to hit fades more than they like to hit draws. I hit a baby draw with the Callaways I've played the last couple of years and the TSi3 I play now but the TM had a push cut miss in it that was more extreme than what I see with others. Callaway had a left miss in it - I think they like to build a small draw bias in and conversely TM has a right miss. I find Titleist extremely neutral.

yep, i have every Taylomade since the M5 and Titleist since the 913 in my closet and the Taylormades sit way more open in their standard settings than a Titleist

You mention you went from 9.5 to 9. Have you lofted down and therefore opened the face? Unlike other companies taylormades adapter doesn’t independently change loft and lie.

Try the upright setting and let us know if it fixes it.  It shouldn’t be huge but there should be enough change to matter.

A push cut that you cannot straighten out can often be a symptom of not enough spin / loft.   The stealth is a lot lower spin that your M4 and you might just need more loft than you are used to.  Not only did you go down in loft with the stealth, but you also went to a much lower spinning head so I'm guessing this is your issue.

 

Try lofting up to max setting and if that doesn't work, I'd see if you can trade for a 10.5 degree head.

I agree that the very first thing you should mess with is face angle since the Stealth could simply be sitting more open and therefore be returning more open at impact. That combined with the fact that you've lofted down while now knowing what the actual loft of your heads are (the M4 for example could be higher than 9.5*) means you should start lofting up the Stealth to see what happens.

I was hitting heely push cuts when I hit the stealth on the Trackman. Like some have said, it's partly due to the low spin numbers and the Taylormade fade bias.
