I have a 5x UB, 6s UB the gamer, and now a VF6s. Tested the vf today in my new smoke triple diamond. This is low spin and low launch. When I hit it good it got out past my TSR UB combo. The VR has to be swung at. The cally has a great feel head. I am testing the TD with the UB5x tomorrow. The TSR UB6s has been a great combo for me.

After some driver struggles with my old shaft put an IZ 6X in my driver since I currently have the IZ 7X in my 3W and so far it's been great, not perfect but I can live with it until I go in for a new driver soon. Definitely wouldn't mind a different GD shaft, just enjoy the feel of them just something a bit more "tighter" feel wise if that makes sense. I'm sure like a TP, HD or UD would fit that bill.

After several years of playing Graphite Design shafts I have moved on.

 

Got fitted for TPT Golf shafts recently and the TPT Power Range 18 LO is now in my driver.

The TPT 17 HI kicked out the Tour AD DI 7S from my 3wood.  
 

The Tour AD DI was the best shaft I ever had for a fairway wood until now.  

It is already being played in one of my good friend’s 3 wood and he is loving it. That same friend has my Tour AD TP 8S in his 7 wood which is his favorite club in the bag and my Tour AD VR 6S in his driver.

 

The TPT 17 LO replaced the Fujikura Fuel HY 85 Stiff in my 5 hybrid.

I pretty much have the same setup as you except that mine's a 7TX.  I'm loving my AI Smoke TD as it's fade biased, low spin and pairs very well with the VF.  Flat bombs that don't spin too much or too little.

I had the DI for many years and the UB would be right up your alley.  It's supposed to be the updated version of the DI, EI profile wise but firmer.  It launches lower and spins just a touch less for me.  Others have reported lower launch however, have seen significant drop in spin compared to the DI.

I posted in the UW thread about a little over a month ago and inquiring about shafts to try for my 21 UW (newest version). The HD and TP were recommended from GD but are there other ones people are liking? I have a project X riptide 60 stiff and it’s too whippy.

It depends on what weight you're looking at - I always thought the DJ spun much more as the tip was so much softer. The MJ is known as a mid-high launching mid spinning shaft itself, but in the 8x it's incredibly playable in a 3 wood and not spinny at all.

UB launches - and spins - lower than the DI for me.  It does not have that big kick you will get from a DI either ( at least to me, we all feel things differently). Like Phizzy said, the UB was released as 'the new' DI by GD - but I get different results. 

 

I still have the DI in my FW woods, although I've been thinking about getting another UB for the 3 wood.  I could lower the flight in that and be perfectly fine.  DI is great in my 5W.

I’m jumping into this thread late so sorry if this has been discussed but I’m looking at a TSr2 with an IZ 7s shaft for a nice price. What’s a comparable Tensei or Ventus shaft?

IIRC they will, someone leaked some pics in the AD VF thread in the first few pages of a proto hyb shaft with the VF paint job.

My UB's are working so well in all 3 of my woods that I have nothing left to test and I dont know what to do with myself.

I recently purchased a few HDs and the shafts felt a bit lighter than I'm typically used to. For those who have played the shaft in Driver and or Woods what did you notice regarding swingweigh? Did it balance more toward the butt or tip of the club?

There are a few T AD shafts that will balance 1-1.5 SWP lighter in my experience. I believe the HD may have been one of those.

Just for transparency Ive done a bit of cheating on my GD bros.

 

I did pickup a Tensei 1K Red and that lasted only 2 days last week. The UB went back in the bag.

 

I also have a Ventus Black 7 and 7W build coming from that AI Smoke deal TGW had to make a 'Nelly Korda' 7 wood setup to see how I like it against my current trusty Mavrik 5 wood with UB 8. Two vastly different shafts (like the 1K Red was) but we'll see.

I’m playing a TM M3 3HL 17° with my AD HD 7S. I’m playing it at 43.5”. I was previously using a Fuji Atmos Tour Spec Blue 7S also at 43.5”. The Fuji weighs around 125 grams (including TM adapter and grip) and the HD was around 121 grams (also with the TM adapter and same grip). 

 

I originally cut down the Fuji 7S shaft quite a bit, and it measured out to D0.5. The head came pretty light. I added some lead tape and got it up to D3 and it felt comfortable. I bought the HD later and after cutting it down to the same length, it also measured at D3. It does seem to be lighter by 4 grams, but the swingweight seems to be similar.

Someone on tour is playing the VF-105X, but it's the proto version.  Supposed be released within the next couple months.  I'm going to get one to test, hehe.

Had the HD in driver and did notice a 1 pt swing weight difference now that you mentioned it.  I had to add some lead to the sole as a result.

This is what worries me. If the head did come to spec and the shaft length/weight is within TM’s spec for the M3, the club shouldn’t play 4 swing points lighter. In fact with your length and total weight of the shaft with grip should play 1/2-1 swingweight points higher.

 

That is unless your head weight was lighter than ~217 grams (around 209 grams) which would mean the original 29 gram sliding weight was replaced for a lighter ~17-21 gram weight. (I won’t have this problem though as all my head weights are stock.)

 

Anyway looks like I’ll have to account for roughly 1-2 grams of weight, which is pretty negligible as far as swing weight is concerned.
