Played another 2 rounds with the HD this weekend and overall, drove the ball pretty well.  I definitely like this shaft.  I will continue to test it against the TP, UB, and VF this winter on the simulator.

The TP is outstanding. I have been putting the TP, HD and VR through their paces with my Max 10K.

 

The VR has been knocked out. Just too draw biased, and too inconsistent. Not going to give it another go.

 

The HD is still a great shaft. Well balanced, great feel, good control. A bit draw biased, but a wonderful shaft that I could always game.

 

The TP has out-shown the other two. It is so stable and balanced, and feels so good to swing. It has been great out on the course anytime I have used it. With the VR out of the equation, just for fun (and because I have it on hand anyway), I am going to throw my IZ back into the mix to see if that can hold its own with the TP and HD. YMMV.

Any suggestions on what to use for a mini driver? 

 

BRNR 13.5 -  for high launch, medium spin draw biased type setup

 

I've gamed XC6tx in driver.  Awesome but fade biased.  Tested also:

Driver- HD 7tx, beast of a shaft, couldn't launch it, DI 6x great feel and draw biased but flat boring trajectory

Fw- CQ 7s, decent and workable both ways, mid launch in 5 wood, lacked feel and consistency relative to my Ventus red 7s.  DI 7x again great feel, draw biased but in a '17 m1 3w I was getting the same as driver- mid flight bullets. 

 

I really like the feel of the DI, but the launch is just too low.  I've read that it is known to help shallow based on the event profile, definitely not high launching for me.

 

What has the DI feel, kick, draw bias but softer tip?   I was looking at the MT.  Also read that if you tip a DI, that helps to increase launch.  Is that true?

Gaming Ping G430 LST w/ Black 2.0 6S shaft. 

 

Picked up a Paraydym 3 wood with a UB 7s and loving it so far so now wondering about testing a UB in a the driver. 

 

Anyone test a UB in the 430 LST driver?  Would I need to go stiffer?  I know the Ping Black 2.0 is comapred by many to either a Ventus blue or Ventus Black depedning on flex, so wondering if even worth testing the UB or not.  Not sure if I would see any gains overall. 

 

 *I hit the Black 2.0 rock solid/ Long /straight with really good dispersion 90% of the time. I did not get along with the Chrome for note when messing around with it.  Prior I used a Ventus Blue 6x but in different head.  I also had a TR Red to get a bit more launch but same low spin but I was spinning it to much at times with I call my push fade , though the launch was prefect.

Ive never put stock into the 'dont tip the GP or DI' thing I've seen online due to their stiff tips. GD still recommends the same tipping as other shafts.

 

If you want a DI with more launch with a pronounced mid bend the VR, CQ (I see you have one), or TP might be for you. The HD and IZ will do what you are asking - but will be more linear in feel.

Yeah I don't know tbh.  Logically it does makes sense that tipping will move the shaft profile "down".  The DI tipped would have more "medium" area and less "stiff".  Oddly I've only read this for DI but like a Ventus blue has arguably the same dynamics.   @Howard_Joneswas the one who found out about the DI tipping increasing launch.  

 

If that really is the case, maybe I should just get a 7s and tip it 1.5" lol.  Sounds a bit iffy though lol

Has anyone hit the MAD shafts? I picked one up for cheap from PGATSS today as they were clearancing out their old demo shafts.

 

I took the grip off and it says made in china which is kinda yucky, but I trust the GD quality is still there.

I just bought a used U505 with an IZ 95 shaft. This will be my first Graphite Design so very excited to check it out.

So thoughts on the MAD shaft. It's made in China and off the bat I dont like that. But I trust GD to still have good quality.

 

Feel is not on par with Tour AD models. Not by a long shot. I have the regular version, not the MAD Pro, and it still feels a little lifeless and one-piece compared to the Tour AD line. Spin and launch were way high for me (fairway wood test). I am also testing new heads (Mizuno 230 Max vs my PXG Black Ops) so the spin is a little higher on these I think, as well.

 

I put the VF back in for now and also have the UB (and a random LINQ Red TSPX) as others to test.

Ordered a TP 5-s and a HD 5-s 

gonna try both no tip into a G440 3 wood (the new release in Feb or whenever)

have a DI 6-S as well may put them against 

 

any predictions?

TP sounds like they stopped making.....had to search aftermarket for one.....what is or would be the "repalcememt" shaft for it then assuming that is true?

It's still on the GD shaft matrix.  TP is Firm-Firm-Stiff - Closest would be HD (Firm-Firm-Firm+), though HD has a slightly softer tip and would likely launch a little higer, all other things being equal.  GC would likely be close as well, though stiffer in the handle and slightly softer in the tip.

HD is the closest EI profile wise and is pretty close feel wise, IMO from the testing I've done.  TP has a little more kick though and feels more lively in the mid, IMO.  HD is more linear which you may or may not like.  Found both easy to turnover but TP could get snappy left if I made a sloppy swing more often than HD.

Yes, TP, HD UB in terms of most to least kick.  UB is weird because on paper it's supposed to be a slightly firmer version of the DI, however it doesn't feel or play like you would think.  UB launched the lowest for me with least amount of spin and was the most anti-left.  Very linear in feel as well with hardly any kick.  Also, check your PM.

If you message Dallas Golf on instagram they will sell you the raw shaft only. Or, I believe, you can put in your order notes on the website "grip and adapter in box uninstalled, send raw shaft" they will do that. I did it with a Tensei once.

I've written about it in this thread and in the tour and pre-release forum if you search.  I believe I was one of the first to have it.  It's a nice shaft that will likely fit a lot of people.  I have it in 6TX, but will probably get my next one in 7X.  You can flex it up or down, depending on what you can time the best, without worrying about stability.  It's a very stable shaft with lots of feel.

I worry the handle is too firm for what suits me best - that is what is holding me back the most

It might be too firm.  It has a lot of feel, but it really depends on how you load and time it.  If you really get along with the VA Nemesys and it's counterbalancing, I don't know if you would get along with the GC.
