Well, that was certainly entertaining. Lol. Don't much care for a runaway win, so having a nailbiter with a dozen players with a shot keeps it interesting. Don't understand the criticism of this event. It's a tough mountain course with birdie opportunities, as well as double opportunities. It's not a bomb and gouge fest. Nelly was one over for her back nine. Gotta put a tee shot in play, deal with the hanging lies, deal with the crazy greens, and be a short game wizard to save par. Very few easy birdie putts. Keep in mind that they've been playing this course for years now, so they know the nuances. The better players are going to take adv where they can. 

 

Anyway, great win for Brooke with her C game. After a rough start I never saw any frustration, or quit. Nice to see her dig deep and snag her 2nd major. 

 

Heck of a week for Sophia. One inch away from a playoff. 

 

Would have loved to see Lydia make eagle to grab the clubhouse lead. She was once again a little too errant off the tee. Solid week, though. 

 

I expect to see Mao on the LPGA in the next year or two. Impressive. 

 

Still not sure why Charley doesn't play like this regularly. I don't buy the whole US thing. Bring your mates with you. Lol. 

 

Carlota being Carlota. Never seems to finish. 

 

Rough day for So Yeon, but nice to see her contend once again. 

 

Sei Young threw this one away. Again, the course can be like a rattlesnake. Looks tame, but it has fangs.

I see zero issues offering, the top 3 in points/$ from each LET, KLPGA,and JLPGA a free ride to the LPGA, if you want the best go get them.

 

No issues with the top 10 Epson joining either.

The so called Epson wannabees got status through Q Series, and grind it out for peanuts throughout the year. Quite a few winners on the LPGA came up through the Epson Tour. I certainly don't think the level of play comes close to the two Asian tours, but it's certainly as good or better than the LET.

If you're going to give an automatic card, I'd base it on world ranking, and not points or winnings.

Its ridiculous to require a KLPGA/JLPGA/LET tour winner to go through Q school, they're proven winners of a skilled and legitimate pro tour.

 

So the #10 Epson tour graduate is a better player than those Tour winners? Yeah, right.

 

Linn Grant is box office for what she has done this year both on the LET and now the Evian. If she doesn't win the LET this year it likely will be Maja.

 

If the LPGA tour wants to be the best it needs those players in the field.

 

So change the qualifying rules.

I'd do it based solely on World rankings. No reason why the top 3 players on the LET should get a card before the higher ranked players on the KLPGA.

 

Linn is ranked 102nd in the world. There are 30+ players on the KLPGA and JLPGA that are ranked higher than her. If we want the best players in the world, then give cards to the best players.

They certainly didn't move the 14th up, a 200+ yd par 3 isn't exactly a pitch n putt.

It's hard to not notice Sophia Shubert sporting a Wilson Staff bag, a rare bag on the LPGA, I see it on the LET more often. Just curious if she was playing Wilson irons, I would think so.

Congrats to Sophia Shubert, very impressed she didn't fold like so many first time major contenders do. She was the real winner for me and almost made my prediction of a completely off the radar player winning come true.

So with a 2nd win Brooke has double qualified for the tournament of Champions in 23/24. I think she should be able to give one to Gaby Lopez.  Gaby came out to celebrate with actual Champagne, then after dumping half on Brooke, she then gave Brooke the other half to chug and like a good Canadian girl who likes her hooch Brooke obliged ....... it's truly the only way to celebrate a victory and with Evian you'd figure they'd really use water lol

Good win for Brooke, may help her somewhere down the line when things aren't going so well.  Takes a lot to keep it together, and then was able to make some birdies to get over the finish line.

 

I also wasn't sure SYR would hold together.  Started well but then the pressure got to her.  I couldn't believe she was 2 or 3 over and still had a shot.

 

Say what you want about the tournament, but it has produced a good list of winners.

 

Lexi needs another major.  Maybe she should already have 2 (2017 ANA), but she's falling behind the other top talents on the tour.  Maybe add SYK to the list too (although I'd argue she's never got as much recognition as her win total).  Nelly gets a pass for now since she is a bit younger.

Nice event for Linn Grant, I like that she shot a 64 to backdoor a top 10, it's what good players do on an off week.  Heck all of the top 10 in the world have 1/2 their top10's as backdoors.

Good for Sophie, she's locked up her card, lets see if it frees her up.

 

I don't like my Majors to break 10 under but that said this course doesn't bother me, now that it's this time of year.  I don't mind you being able to go low with good play but I also feel if that's the case especially in a major you should be punished for bad play.  I think this course does that and you can't argue with it's winners
