Is this putter out there??? Heel shafted, zero offset, blade. Please help...

Ok here's the list.  Use your imagination and past hoeness if you would please.  

Looking for a....

 

Heel shafted putter

No offset

More blade style like a Newport or anser 

 

Not interested in the Napa, bullseye, or 8802 styles.  Or anything somewhat center shafted.  

 

I used to have a bombora blade that was my perfect putter made by byron morgan.  It was exactly what I always wanted.  And someone broke my truck window out and robbed my whole golf bag.  So please please help a fellow wrxer out here.  Can't have Byron make another (rip)  Been doing tons of research and not sure what to do.  

Below is the bombora blade, looks like it has a touch of offset but I couldn't tell when gaming it

To be honest I don't know much about who to even reach out to to have one made.  Apologize for not knowing, kind of out of touch in that area

That puppy is gorgeous Jimbo.  I've had a Napa and a 8802 and just couldn't fit my eye.  With that bombora, there was something about the offset and more of a "squareness" to it.  Hard to explain

I've been following the Mack Made thread for awhile - there are some pretty cool unique pieces coming out of there. seems like Josey is great to work with and can you get most things made however you like.

Thinking my best bet since I know what I'm trying to recreate is to try and buy a bombora blade head.  Pretty rare to even see them for sale though.  And then have another company try to match weld the neck the way he had it?  I don't know?

I'd suggest Lamont of Mannkrafted.  Some of the newer guys work off fixed CNC templates and may not be able to bespoke as readily?  Lamont has been doing it for a long while and still hand mills everything I think so he will be able to build pretty much anything without needing to write a new CNC program etc.

If you really want a Bombora, why not just get byron to make one to your specs?  He may have a ready stash of that head shape and only needs to weld your preferred neck and send out for your preferred finish?

Sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but Byron passed late last year.  It was pretty quick, and left a lot of people devastated, including myself.  He is missed on a daily basis, in my work.  The things he did for me, over the years, are without explanation or equal in today's putter crafting world.

That Bombora head was awesome in so many ways.  Byron taught me so many things, but we never got to sit and just have a beer.  One of life's huge regrets.

Oh no.  Sorry to hear.  His putters were not for me but he was clearly well loved by many here and elsewhere and one of the original custom greats!

If a “custom builder” is working from a fixed cnc template then they are nothing more than a parts producer.  Any builder that creates their own cad model can adjust change, modify or design from scratch.  Or at-least I do.

Josey at MackMade could be a good option, the other would be Kari at Lajosi Putters and his KLP4 is the closest to a Bombora or maybe his LP64 if you want something a bit different.

How about a Miura KM 008 or KM 350?  They're pretty pricy, but if that's the only type of putter that works for you....

I've looked closely at those, very similar.  Unfortunately I'm pretty much willing to wait however long it takes to find or buy another bombora blade.  It was the perfect putter for me and has sentimental value.  I still play my ping eye 2 becu 2-lw.  Old school til the end I guess.

Josey at MackMade makes several classic models with modern touches. I’ve seen many heel shafted blades on his Instagram and I’m sure he could modify however you wish to recreate your Bombora look you’re wanting. Lamont Mann would be another place to look. Ps you don’t have to look far they are in this thread. 😉
