Well it was rumored that some of the contacts were written like that. Now it looks like we know that all the contracts are written like that. Surely you can see the difference there?

I thought that the players that signed huge upfront money this was common knowledge.  Without looking at everyone’s individual contract who knows but this was not some big bombshell.

Well that's why I said I hope they get wrecked because I really don't care about their market share. I care about watching Golf and watching everyone that I like play in the same tournament. I'm not pro PGA or Pro LIV. I'm Pro watching good golf and at this moment the PGA tour is the one that seems to be hindering that.

Brandel Chamblee is one guy who reported this, and he was told by either an agent, player, someone from LIV that it wasn't true, they got upfront money plus what they earned. Now the plaintiffs lawyers are arguing the opposite.  

 

You can downplay it, but the media will run with it and will want to get clarification from LIV or the contracts themselves if they get revealed in court.

This is the first time I have heard that the tournament "winnings" are part of that upfront cash. It makes the entire series a complete joke, the "cool team game", the appeal for OGWR, all a farce.  If this is true, those with the large up front contracts have ZERO incentive to play hard and win, as they are getting that money anyway. There is no real competition at hand, it's not competing with the tour, its a dog and pony show.

I honestly don't understand how you can come to this conclusion. Nearly everyone that has left for the LIV has cited schedule flexibility and spending more time not playing in golf tournaments as a reason for joining. The LIV guys were not going to be playing PGA Tour events in non-LIV weeks, save for the few that want to play in the current season's FedEx cup and maybe a few marquee events per year. The LIV was absolutely, undoubtedly fracturing the world of professional golf. Two separate and competing tours instead of one combined tour is LIV's fault, not the PGA Tour's.

Not an attorney, but have read the complaint and the PGA response, and, I can't imagine how the plaintiffs can successfully get a TRO approved. 

 

Also, the up front money thing being counted against future earnings or vice versa, never quite smelled right to me. Based upon the posts above, this makes Perez look really stupid and non credible.

I disagree with your point. PGA Tour did what it should do and that is protect itself from an assault from Norman. Suspending players for violating their terms is a reasonable response.

Sounds like the PGA tour needs to evolve. And really I don't care about 54 hole tournaments. I rarely watch on Thursday or Friday unless it's a big one.
