After Cam Smith missed the cut by a lot last week,  there was some predictable chatter that LIV golfers are not as competitive  in real 72 hole events ,  because of LIV format,  $$$, etc.  Since then,  Leishmann finishes 3rd in that event and Niemann  finishes 5th.  Burmester wins in South Africa last week.  And just now, this weekend,  Burmester wins in South Africa and Niemann wins in Australia.
Is the spin now that Buremester, Niemann, or Leishmann wouldn’t get a top 10 in the Hero World Challenge or in the TGL indoor league?

the spin is the rest of the world matters less as the hero world is worth as much as both southern hemisphere opens combined. ty owgr.

How does the quality of the players compare? There’s 11 players in today’s round I recognize. I watch a lot of golf. The purse is US$1.1M. One of the smallest purses on the DP World Tour. The tournament OWGR ranking reflects the field.

you missed my point i'm not saying the balance is off by the current formula. i'm saying those tournaments are lesser in the eyes of the world of pro golf to an exhibition tournament and that's only cause of money and spin(advertising)

There is no talk as they would never get an invite to the Hero World Challenge or TGL.

Sadly as I look back, I’ve forgotten about all the players that went to LIV. I look at the list and go “yea, I remember that guy”. For good or bad that happens. Some .. some will show up at the Majors and it’ll jog my memory. That’s the challenge of LIV and tv contracts.

Let’s be honest here…

If you’re posting about LIV in December… you could probably name every player on the tour

The talk you mention was about the guys that got paid….Phil…DJ…Reed…Bryson…Cam.

The guys you named as doing oh so well were afterthoughts to get to 48 bodies.  Ok that’s a bit harsh…Niemann and Leishman had been good recently.

From what I’ve seen Cam and DJ in particular look a bit fat and happy.

Cam's getting married in a few weeks, not sure if that should make him fat or happy but he will lose 50%+ of his wealth in one day.

Mr. short game, youtube golf content creator, is claiming hes got sources telling him that rahm is a lock, finau is a lock, and eventually xander and cantlay will be with LIV.  3 of the top 6 in owgr plus finau, that’s a huge get.

Appears Mr. short game is coming up short again.

Finau will not being headed to liv unless there is some type of merger that makes them (liv) one and the same with the PGAT.

Xander and Cantlay? Perhaps someday but not this year.

Rahm? - looks like it but no word just yet...

Well the Hero should not get points at all. 20 player no cut at a resort course with 80 yard wide fairways. How is that not an exhibition

Somehow, Eldrick managed to climb up the rankings LMAO

I think the regular Tour players who have been playing solid for the past year must be wondering the whole OWGR system is completely broken, biased, and unfair and not worth their vote or voice, and probably wish there was more space on LIV  so they can all jump over at this point, and make room in their own schedules to go play in Australia or South Africa or Japan or whatever, if they're going to get paid

Playing solid ? If they were playing solid, they would accumulate OWGR points.

It's called a meritocracy - play better and the rewards will come your way. How do you think Scheffler & others started out ?

Any bottom tier player looking for a free ride had better start pedaling.

Seeing Eternity on there made me laugh and think the teams should be named after men's colognes. Imagine..

Joop!

Acqua Di Gio

CK One

Cool Water

Drakkar Noir

Solid, as in, week in, week out. Sorry for the confusion. Solid schedule in full-field cut events. I should've been more clear.

I'm shocked that Xander and Cantlay haven't already joined. It seems like they have been rumored multiple times and never really denied mutual interest.

If Rahm gets $525 million I would be interested to see what they command.

Their majors status would be in question down the road since they have no cushion like many who joined LIV before them. Niemanns OWGR has plummeted, but he just qualified for the Open by winning the OZ open. DJ, Bubba, Sergio, Reed, Oost, Cam etc at least get to play in one for the rest of their lives if no change ever happens.

It conforms to OWGR, that's why there are points involved.

HAHAHA @bekgolf I know your post and your better then that... LOL

IT does not conform and we all know it 🤣  even as a fan of tiger that event should NOT get points.  It was given OWGR points out of respect for Tiger.

It violates exactly why the OWGR said LIV will not get OWGR points. The main keys being closed shop and access to qualify.  That was 100% the main reasons LIV was not given points  and that is in the bylaws for the OWGR and rules are rules.  The other being 72 holes but shocked me the OWGR noted that a lot of events are 54 and the points are pro-rated on short events.

Tiger deserves his due for what he has done for hte game, but the Hero  is 100% a"frat party" hand selected field.  No rankings used, not playin, etc.  One person picking....!  JT would have never qualified for it last year the way he played.  Though he did look a bit back to normal this time around.

Though I will agree with everyone whoever ends up with Cantlay....they are getting HOSED  🤣
