HAHAHA @bekgolf I know your post and your better then that... LOL

IT does not conform and we all know it 🤣  even as a fan of tiger that event should NOT get points.  It was given OWGR points out of respect for Tiger.

It violates exactly why the OWGR said LIV will not get OWGR points. The main keys being closed shop and access to qualify.  That was 100% the main reasons LIV was not given points  and that is in the bylaws for the OWGR and rules are rules.  The other being 72 holes but shocked me the OWGR noted that a lot of events are 54 and the points are pro-rated on short events.

Tiger deserves his due for what he has done for hte game, but the Hero  is 100% a"frat party" hand selected field.  No rankings used, not playin, etc.  One person picking....!  JT would have never qualified for it last year the way he played.  Though he did look a bit back to normal this time around.

Though I will agree with everyone whoever ends up with Cantlay....they are getting HOSED  🤣

It was low hanging fruit, lol.

Mostly Wishon with a few Tour Edge Exotics, Cobra, Cleveland, and one Odyssey mixed in.

To be clear, these OWGR requirements you've listed as for a TOUR, not an EVENT. There's no explicit requirement that each event meet these in order to get OWGR points, obviously the Masters does not have any open qualification process as it's an invitational. The problem LIV has is that ALL of their events and their entire tour has no open access via qualification.

I'm not thrilled that the Hero gets points but they are reduced at least, Scottie only gets 30 points vs 80 for winning the Players or 65 for winning in Phoenix.

Actually the top 19 on the OWGR in good standing with their OWGR qualified tours are invited. Tiger gets 1 exemption which he can use for whomever he wishes. Anyone in the top 19 that declines to play makes room for the next guy on the OWGR list.

Correct except for one item. There are two sponsor exemptions that the Hero World Challenge uses on top of the tournament host exemption that Tiger receives. IIRC the only restriction the two exemptions have is that the player has to be in the top 50 of the OWGR.

This year originally Rickie and JT received the sponsor exemptions. After Cantlay and Xander withdrew the sponsor exemptions Rickie and JT originally received got in the event via their OWGR ranking. Then J.Rose and Lucas Glover received the sponsor exemptions. The OWGR ranking at the end of The Tour Championship is used to set the field.

Agreed. LOL!.....Critics of the tournament always seem to leave out your added fact.

I do believe Tiger also waited years after petitioning the OWGR  for points and recieved them after complying to certain criterias.

------------------------

Let's be clear, Woods never trashed the OWGR or demanded points like a certain tour did......Good for him. 😎😎Just putting that out there.

-------------------------

Tiger and the sponsor of Hero gets exemption.

One of the biggest hurdles to LIV's team concept is the inauthenticity of the whole enterprise. They aren't "teams" in the sense that we would normally think - they're just groups of four guys deciding to play together, or something, with little structure or transparency. Today, LIV announced that reigning league champion Talor Gooch was traded for frequent WD'er and overall malcontent Matthew Wolff. If that's not the cherry on top, I don't know what is.

My suspicion is that LIV execs are stacking certain teams to try to generate some interest in them. Either fan interest (rooting for a Patriots/Yankees-like dynasty) or investor/sponsor interest.

I think back to the initial team rollout. There was supposed to be a player draft that was going to be live streamed online somewhere. For unstated reasons, the stream was dropped, and the draft clearly didn't function as a real draft for the most part (maybe it did somewhat?). That was a harbinger of things to come. If LIV had announced 12 captains and held a draft where each captain was trying to select the best golfer available... maybe the team concept might have had some legs. They didn't do that. Instead, we got a sort of hybrid of "common interest teams" like the older Euros and the South Africans, with some random players thrown in.

Its....*this*....THIS is everything I hate about LIV. Its the complete and utter phoniness of the whole endeavor. You had your eye on a mental head case who was a complete non factor all year and gave away arguably the best player on your entire tour in exchange? B. f. S.

If this was a fantasy football trade it would have been vetoed as having been absolutely garbage.

Hilarious.

And that's why betting houses won't take a bet on LIV, due to its illogical staging nature......
