Yeah I mean he's got his major invites for the next 10+ years,

Not really. Lifetime exemption for The Masters, exempt for US Open through 2031, PGA & Open Championships through 2028.

Dreams are not meant to come true.
Dreams are meant to keep you going through the darkness.

Seve is rolling over in his grave?  Little dramatic don't you think?  And that is even before considering Ballesteros was suspended from the PGA tour because he refused to commit to playing 15 events there, he wanted the freedom to play where he wanted.

I might argue he is actually doing Seve proud.

Really, dramatic??? Not at all.

Choosing to play when and where he wanted and being fined for not doing so, doesn't mean he'd support jumping to LIV by anyone.  But you're welcome to your opinion.

Seems like this is coming in short order:   LIV to change format to 72 holes with primary 12-teams joined by an additional 6 teams who must qualify on a Monday "team shoot out".    There are 12 to 16 teams trying to qualify on Monday for those 6 team spots.

Suddenly, OWGR has to notice.  Put microphones on every golf bag to capture conversations while limiting 80% of the announcer talk.  Dump the on course music.  Dump the shotgun start and send them off the front and back simutaneously.

Cut line? How are the 6 Monday qualifying teams decided? You need both a cut and ability for others to play their way onto your tour for them to get rankings.  54 holes was not the deal breaker.

Oh that could be.  I just assumed it was similar to the US qualifying but now that you mention it I realize its different.  Either way, I'd assume that Rahm's points from it would keep him up towards at least the capt pick range.

That I'm not sure, I was just thinking Brooks qualified via a major essentially, so I figured it was the same.  Apologies.

For this past Ryder Cup the Americans were still members of the PGA of America and were thus eligible to be picked.  Probably not the case next time.  Euros need to be members of the DP Tour.

12 teams in the event.   Another 12 teams vying for 6 spots in a Monday Q.  Of those additional 12 teams on Monday, the top 6 gross teams make it.  If there is a tie, each team in the tie picks one player for the sudden death playoff.

You would then have 18 teams (18x4 = 72 total players) for the event.  72 players, 18 teams. 72-18=54=LIV.

It's not a crazy idea. Totally doable. It's not like they are going to put obstacles from Caddyshack 2 on the course to hit around.

It's no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

Why wouldn't rahm go? This is in those 3 guys who negotiated with liv without informing any players for several months.

Rahm can stay on the PGAT and make $100M+ over the next 5/6 years and know that the moral position of "not Saudi money" is gone. There'll be a ton of Saudi $ in the tour going forward.

So if you have to choose....

$100M and it's a lot of Saudi $

Or

$600M and it's all Saudi $

Easy choice. Expect more big name guys to go.

So you think guys are going to give up tour membership for the off chance they qualify for a LIV event?  Or is this just a bunch of guys that know they can’t hack it on a real tour?  Details man…we need details!💰

It seems the PGA tour as it stands today is finished. Liv will just keep picking off players till there are no more.

Don’t know, but sounds like they will be PGAT players. The last sentence od the snippet below is very important and one folks seem to have missed. Might be the reason this has taken a few weeks to play out is so LIV could sign Jon’s guys.

The deal is believed to be longer than three years, is worth more than $300 million and will include an ownership stake for Rahm in a new LIV Golf team, according to sources. LIV Golf is recruiting additional PGA Tour players to fill out the roster of Rahm's team.

First off, I want to reassure everyone that I have not received any offers from LIVWRX to leave the board and join there instead, regardless of what the media might say

Joke out of the way, this one has to sting for the tour, right? Rahm is a big name to lose, any chance this starts another round of mass exodus?

Well they are at it, dump the team aspect add in a cut and have a normal tournament. (where the players wear shorts and have stupid music)

Looks like Tiger made a lot of money for NOT playing and NOT winning ... PGAT is a joke.

I suggest you read the criteria for the PIP award amount.
