Not really. Lifetime exemption for The Masters, exempt for US Open through 2031, PGA & Open Championships through 2028.

It is interesting that everyone is upset at LIV and the players going there, but everyone forgets that Monahan, TIger and Rory are the 3 main reasons LIV even exists. My anger is toward those three then the spineless others who have yet to send Jay packing. The PGA was shaped by their wants and the payouts and preference was so top heavy. LIV departees were over giving ideas yet only a few from the in crowd were followed. This has been coming for years but the PGA had their blinders on because they thought they were the biggest game in town.

Choosing to play when and where he wanted and being fined for not doing so, doesn't mean he'd support jumping to LIV by anyone.  But you're welcome to your opinion.

Cut line? How are the 6 Monday qualifying teams decided? You need both a cut and ability for others to play their way onto your tour for them to get rankings.  54 holes was not the deal breaker.

That I'm not sure, I was just thinking Brooks qualified via a major essentially, so I figured it was the same.  Apologies.  

For this past Ryder Cup the Americans were still members of the PGA of America and were thus eligible to be picked.  Probably not the case next time.  Euros need to be members of the DP Tour.

12 teams in the event.   Another 12 teams vying for 6 spots in a Monday Q.  Of those additional 12 teams on Monday, the top 6 gross teams make it.  If there is a tie, each team in the tie picks one player for the sudden death playoff. 

 

You would then have 18 teams (18x4 = 72 total players) for the event.  72 players, 18 teams. 72-18=54=LIV.   

 

It's not a crazy idea. Totally doable. It's not like they are going to put obstacles from Caddyshack 2 on the course to hit around.

Why wouldn't rahm go? This is in those 3 guys who negotiated with liv without informing any players for several months. 

 

Rahm can stay on the PGAT and make $100M+ over the next 5/6 years and know that the moral position of "not Saudi money" is gone. There'll be a ton of Saudi $ in the tour going forward. 

 

So if you have to choose....

 

$100M and it's a lot of Saudi $

 

Or

 

$600M and it's all Saudi $

 

Easy choice. Expect more big name guys to go.

Don’t know, but sounds like they will be PGAT players. The last sentence od the snippet below is very important and one folks seem to have missed. Might be the reason this has taken a few weeks to play out is so LIV could sign Jon’s guys.

As with all things LIV, the headlines and numbers being thrown around are b.s..  PGAT is a bunch of b.s. as well, just for different reasons.

 

As posted, golf fans are the real losers here if they continue to participate while being manipulated.  Abuse and exploitation anyone?  Why of course, how else do we make these shenanigans profitable.

 

I wonder, what is the real aim here?  People think Saudis are sportswashing, blah, blah, blah... I'm not trying to get into the politics.  I don't think it has anything to do with all that.  There is so much money being thrown around it's just a weird form of a Monopoly board game being played by a handful of people that no one on this board can ever understand.  But what we can understand is the ultra wealthy, correction, the so beyond ultra wealthy that there really isn't even a word for it, can play any game they want and manipulate anyone they want just for sport.

 

You know the darkness of the rich psychos behind squid game?  It's kind of like that, but no reason for violence, people are easily manipulated for money; there's no need to physically coerce.

 

At least for those still a fan of professional golf, you aren't being publicly embarrassed with the puppet strings.  But the likes of Phil, DJ, BDC, and now Rahm, they sure tap dance better than anyone in history.  Yes, they are getting obscene money, and everyone here says "I don't blame them" and/or "I would do the same", but no amount of money will ever give these guys an ounce of real respect.  And it's not just LIV guys.  I don't know what the dollar amount is that defines the line between humble athletes and obnoxious ****** pontificating about golf.  GOLF! Does it really need this level of soap box preaching?

 

As others have posted, good going you greedy losers, you got me playing more and watching a lot less.  And...I am posting less, buying less clubs, and just getting back to the core of the game - the crazy pursuit of a low round, and fun banter at the 19th hole; and if you are lucky, a few great friends along the way.
