Oem wedge question

Why are the stock shafts always light weight wedge flex to s200? Playing 130x $tapers currently and frustrated with wedge offerings. Rant over.

That is what easily works for most people and is a relatively cheap offering for the OEMs. Also what might work for your irons might not work as well for your wedges so you could consider trying something different, and if a company has it as a no cost change, sounds like a good deal. If not, well this is golfWRX and I am sure you can find something good on the classifieds, maybe just an entire different iron set to match your new wedges!

An S200 is what 128 grams, and most OEMs offer an S400 standard which is 132 to 135 grams at no up charge usually, unless you go tour issue. Honestly I couldnt tell you if there was a flex difference, I hit so few wedge shots full tilt its never bothered me so ive never worried that I have an s300 in my lob wedge and an s400 in my gap and sand wedges, and Im a guy who was fit into and plays X7s.

That's because most golfers can't handle a 130 gram x flex shaft.  OEMs cater to the masses.

Mizuno, Titleist, Cleveland, Ping and Callaway all offer free/no charge S400 or X100.  If you want to play $Tapers then you have to go for Mizuno or Cobra for freebies or pay a little extra to have someone build it or do an upcharge through the other OEMs.  Not hard to find what you need if you look a little bit.  I mean being a 130X flex player you know that 95% of the time you can't just walk into a generic golf store and walk out with a well-suited club off the rack anyways, so I'm not sure why you're particularly upset about this.

Wedge flex is either dynamic gold S200 or S300 used by many OEMs. S200 is 127g, S300 is 130g, its not light weight. Mizuno stock wedges now come with S400 tour issue (134g), wedge shaft used by most tour pros. You can always custom order if you need specific shaft, but stock will always be what appeals to the masses.

Not sure why the wedges bother you.  You also can’t walk into golf galaxy and buy a set that has the sort of shafts you play in irons.  Basically if you have reached a certain level of particular needs with golf equipment you just can’t shop much OTR.

I'm not much of a shaft snob when it comes with my SW and GW.  I have no clue the make, model, and shaft flex of my boxed set Tom Watson Signature wedges.  All I know is that they're made of steel and work just fine for me.
