Shipping 2 golf wedges in U.S.

BG5

Recommended Posts

Trying to sell some 2 wedges (I already have box) and the person buying lives 1 hour away.  I was thinking a rough estimate for shipping for the 2 wedges would be $15.  Does that seem fair or to much.  Should I do $10 for shipping

Why guess, just go to UPS or USPS website and put in the specs for the package and get an exact amount.  That way you don't have to worry about whats fair or not.

I've sold multiple clubs on Ebay in the last 6 weeks, and found the shipping to be outrageous. Very hard to ship anything for less than $20-$25 these days. I think UPS might be the cheapest option, but hard to say.

I sold 2 wedges and the shipping was about $25, for two states away.

Shipping a driver from MI to AL was $32

$60 to ship a set of irons to CA

USPS will be the normal shipping plus a 15 buck surcharge plus insurance .  I would guess Close to 30 .

UPS would be probably about the same for flat rate box.  If you are only 100 miles why not drive it I would.

A 200 mile round trip would cost me $50 in gas.

I live in California and my parents live exactly 100 miles from me. I filled my gas full when I went to go visit them and came back empty in my 13 gallon tank. that is at least $70 worth of gas right now, plus the wasted hours of driving. no thanks I'm paying whoever to deliver it

I just sold a full set of irons on eBay in a 6x6x48 box. Ups ground came in at less than $15 (eBay discounts shipping prices). UPS ground is by far the cheapest consistently.

It also seems the more I sell the better the shipping prices come in at? 🤷‍♂️

Use Pirate shipping site for best rates.

Pirate ship is by far the best and cheapest way to ship. Even the insurance is a fraction of the price UPS charges directly.

plus it’s really easy to get accurate quotes.

do not use USPS to ship any shafts because of their surcharges.

200 miles divided by 13 is 15.38 MPG.  What are you driving... a tank.   5.38 per gal.  Hmm just filled up for 3.79 here. My hybrid could do the 200 on 4 gal.  And even in CA that would be less than 25 bucks.   If each drove 1/2 way that is about 10-15 bucks each.  Maybe play a round of golf when one gets there.  How often do you drive 50 miles to play golf.

that statement is a best case scenario where all the stars align....lol 3.79? it's over 6 a gallon in southern cal and it has just dropped recently lol. so cal traffic makes a 200 mile round trip = 4hrs+ honestly it isn't even about the money, the time and convenience just to not pay someone $20 to ship it is ridiculous to waste imo, to each their own.

Live in SoCal…100% can confirm.  Gas prices + time spent in traffic + inconvenience = ship it for sure!  As many have stated, use PirateShip or sign up for a free UPS acct.  I’ve shipped iron sets from CA to East Coast for around $20, can’t imagine shipping an hour away would cost any more than $10-15.  Same cost as a fast food meal nowadays

Well just because you guys pay out the ying yang. The vast majority of us do not have those issues.  You know there is a reason for it? You never did explain why it takes 13 gal to go 200 miles?  Even a Hummer does better than that!

I'll be patiently waiting for majority to speak up lol and reason for what?? Yes I'm well aware people who live in CA pay stupid $ for what they get but TBH I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. to each their own.

I don't care where anyone else lives.  But my point was just because it coast you 5.+ for gas is no reason that the OP would pay that.  And I would like to know the reason it takes your car 13 gallons to drive 200 miles.  Don't you have a hybrid?

I ship stuff even 30 minutes away. Literally not worth my time to deal with all that or a potential flaker. If the buyer doesn't want to pay shipping, they can pick it up. I would gladly make a few bucks less on a sale vs spend 30minutes+ driving around to sell used clubs lol

maybe that's your problem, you should. OP still hasn't answered you why he shouldn't "just drive it" that speaks volumes in itself don't you think? maybe I exaggerated about 13 gallons, but my light did go on before I got back to my driveway and that means I used at least 11 gallons, and at least $60... why do you want to know how I drive? this is So Cal, top 5 worst places for traffic in the country. your MPG doesn't account how many times I have to hit the gas and break while being bumper to bumper. and no I don't have a hybrid, I must be a terrible person.

My beast gets 14mpg and premium gas is $6+ around here. I would never drive that far for selling some used club lol.

Seriously confused by a recommendation to drive 200 miles round trip to avoid a $20 shipping cost.  Also hilarious to me that someone demands to know what someone else drives so they can justify their math from an earlier post.  @golf_junkie_85, your best bet is pirate ship.

what's even more hilarious is he tried to dial it down to meeting halfway so it's only 100 miles roundtrip, Like everyone else wants to waste their time just as much as he does🤣
