Titleist No Longer Making AVX?

So the shop where I buy balls hasn't had any AVX for several weeks. Then today they told me that Titleist has discontinued the line. That would surprise me because it was very popular with a lot of amateurs I know. Wondering if anyone else knows the actual story/non-story here. And if it's true what other premium ball from any OEM is most similar to the AVX.

Rumor is the new ProV1 will Left Dot characteristics which eliminates the need for the AVX.

I think the Bridgestone B-RX would be the closest comparison to the AVX judging by my last few weeks of trying out the AVX.

I suspect Titleist will go back to having 2 premium balls, eliminating AVX from that mantel.  Titleist knows AVX and left Dot profiles are popular, guessing they will become one of the ProV balls, and so hoping DASH -ProV1x becomes the other.  I have been playing DASH with lots of success.  It flies further than AVX for me.

I think it's going to go to 3. The problem is with the 2 you've listed you have two low spin balls that are also still low spin in the iron/short game. I think the current X will live on to fill that void.

I would be skeptical of this coming from anyone other than Acushnet given that the 2022 AVX just came to retail this past February. With that said, I never understood why they released a ball under a differentiated name at the same price point as the ProV1 vs simply adding more variations to the family.

My take is the AVX fits to few and the market is not there. I've played it and did not care for it, love the softness but hate the low spin. The Left Dot is the Ball everyone is looking for, problem is Titleist offers it to the Tour Guys but is not available for resale, It's a much better ball. I know there has been much discussion here. Sorry!

The left Dot Becoming available on the retail market may never happen because of the market space given the response here. I've often said be-careful what you wish for and the left . is not the cure all, nor is any ball. They have to look at the numbers and fill or offer a ball for the masses before it becomes a marketable ball. I know the left Dot is expensive but it's truly teh best ball I've ever played.

So from your post I'm to assume that the left dot is a firmer feeling AVX?  I only had the chance to try the left dot for 2 holes before hooking it into the trees so I couldn't do an honest assessment of it besides feel.

Yeah and the ProV1x dash is the slightly firmer version of that ball. So they really have 4 offerings in that line now.

I hope it's BS. I just bought 3 dozen. They sure are spending a ton of money advertising them on PGA Tour radio. They talk about the AVX as much as they do the ProV1.

You guys should probably wait for an official announcement. Around me, there is no shortage of Titleist balls, plenty of AVX, Pro V1, etc..

You may already know this but AVX stood for Aternative to the Pro V1 and Pro V1X

I think the Tour Speed is similar to the AVX, maybe a little less green side spin.

I just put 8 dozen AVX in a cart on Titleist.com so I’m pretty sure it’s not going out of my production.

I can’t remember Titleist just disappearing a ball, they always announce it.

That would be wayyyyy too simple. I bet they will switch them up again and confuse us all for the next 10 years. If the AVX blends with the Pro V, how does the dash blend with the X? Are they going to totally do away with balls that spin? If so, why would we pay to play the premium balls as spin and feel as what has historically meant a ball is more premium in price. Why not just play a 3 piece mid priced ball if the lower spin is what you are looking for? I know, that question is rhetorical, the answer is MARKETING. Titleist won that battle with all of us long ago.

I suspect you're wrong about this one.  I'd bet that Titleist going forward has four Pro V1 balls - V1, V1x, Left Dash and Left Dot.  The consumer response to Left Dot was overwhelmingly positive in both sales and surveys.  I'd bet Left Dot just assumes the spot of AVX in the lineup.

yeah i see the reg pro v1 and left dot two ball offerings, i would play the left dot, but its a bit harder then the avx i am told, never played it

It's slightly firmer with a bit more spin than the AVX, with slightly less spin and lower ball flight than the Pro V1.  It slots perfectly between the current AVX and the Pro V1.
