Legato Golf Balls - LTX3085?

Has anyone ever played this ball?  First saw it on Amazon for around $30/dz.  It's a 3 piece urethane at 85 compression.  Looks to be something comparable to the Srixon QST or Wilson Staff Triad.  Directly from the site it looks like they are offering a BOGO (24 balls @ $40).

 

Not really a fan of how they put the model underneath the brand script as it makes the front of the ball look too busy.  Would have been better on the side opposite the alignment aid or within the alignment aid itself.

Good call on the Logo.  Really sharp Legato logo but the model underneath makes it look cheap.

 

Nice price to try them out though.

They're coming up with a new one and can't wait to try that out. 

These balls are really cheap for the price but feel like titleist balls.

I found two of these on an Orlando course a week or two ago. Promptly hit one into the water.  The other is in my bag and I use it around the chipping green for practice.  Seems fine there.  Not unlike any other mid 80s compression 3 pc urathane covered ball.

Thanks to the prime day, i had the same day delivery yeaterday and was able to game them today.  

 

Damn good ball for the price and the performance.  Good feel, not too soft and not too clicky.  Good amount of spin.  Distance at par.  Durable.  

 

Gotta try them.

This is a shockingly good ball if you want your ball to hit and stop quickly on greens (I play medium hard/soft greens). Memorable shot for me:  I miss hit a shot on a short par three and thought the ball hit the decline of the green and rolled off the back.  Nope, the ball stuck on the sloped part of the green no less.  Fun ball to play on all shots.

I picked up a dozen of these on prime day and played 18 with them. The ball definitely spins a lot, I had one chip do a one hop stop and 1 shot roll off the green. They felt decent and were pretty durable. The flight was very consistent, and allowed to plan my way around the course pretty easily. They took me a bit to get used to how they act off the putter. They definitely aren't the most forgiving off the putter, but offer a very slight amount of forgiveness. 

 

The biggest thing I took away from the round was it's a very consistent ball.

Impulse purchased a box of the yellow on amazon Thursday after coming across the review that was posted earlier. They arrived at my house Friday & I played a round with them yesterday. I have to say, this ball performed better than I expected.

 

I play on a very tight course with OB everywhere, so keeping the ball in play off the tee is not an easy feat. I hit 9 of 10 fairways with driver & 4 of 4 with 3w. My only miss with the driver came after my 2 longest drives of the day. I tried to crush one & paid the price. The wind was blowing hard left to right, so I lined up down the left side expected a cut & hit a draw. Ooopsy... OB left. Distance was really good, especially into the wind.

 

Iron shots definitely launched lower than normal, but equaled my normal distances & stopped quickly. My scoring irons seemed to carry a little further than normal, but grabbed and sat when they landed.

 

I usually play a ball with less spin to help keep me in play off the tee, so it took me a few holes to get used to the grab the 3085s had around the green. Once I figured that out, I had a really good day chipping/pitching. Highlight of the short game was a 2 hop stop chip in for a birdie on our longest par 5. 

 

Ended up shooting a +3 /+4 for a 79 after taking a triple on the hole I went OB off the tee. Even more impressive is that I played the same ball the whole round. That's very rare for me on my home course. I'll be playing again today & the wind is expected to blow a steady 15mph - 20mph, so it will really put my game & this ball to the test.

Backed up the 79 from yesterday with a 77 today. +4 on the front & +1 on the back in heavy winds.

 

Can't believe how well this ball fits my swing. Driver SS is 95mph - 100mph & I usually fight spin due to a negative AoA. 

 

Ordering another 3 dozen while the Black Friday Sale is on.

Yes, but not the “exact” same balls.   There’s very few ball factories in the world.

Winner?  To be determined.  I gotta test more.  So far, I would keep PXG & Legato in my bag.  Depends on green condition, PXG for soft green and Legato for hard green.

Only got in 9 holes today, but the 3085 performed again. Shot 1 over & only lost one ball. Hit a limb overhanging a pond & in it went.

 

My confidence with this ball is skyrocketing. I'm sure I'll eventually have a bad round with these balls, but it hasn't happened yet.

Played Sunday with temps in the mid 50s. I wanted to see if I was just playing better or if the ball was really helping drop my scores so I played my normal ball (Bridgestone E9) the first 9 and the LTX 3085 the back nine. 

 

Distance off the tee was very close. the Legato was a bit longer, but I chalk that up to getting warmed up during the round & slightly higher temps from the back 9. Accuracy off the tee was better with the Legato as well. 

 

Approach shots were definitely more accurate. Probably because I don't have to worry about any rollout. When the Legato hits, it sticks. I have to account for a little release with the E9s.

 

I think I picked up the most strokes around the green with the Legato. I love the bold alignment aid for putting & I have confidence that my chips will stop very close to their pitch marks. 

 

I was 8 over for the round. +6 on the front & +2 on the back. 

 

Another positive is I have 3.5 rounds with these balls & I've only used 4 balls.
