Used to post about non prominent tournaments in the DP tour thread, but thats stopped now so I guess I have to start a separate thread. Always love to watch tournaments from that beautiful, difficult golf course. Decent field this year too, a pity Rahmbo didn’t stay a week longer for this Spanish classic. Gonna be fun seeing our latest hope Norrman play.

They were blessed with a fantastic piece of land, but they certainly made great use of it.

 

The way the trees have been incorporated cleverly into a number holes; the changes in elevation; the overall conditioning. It always presents a stiff challenge, and it's still relevant as a tournament venue despite the distance issue that now afflicts the game. It's a gem.

 

I nearly spat coffee over my keyboard upon reading your post, until I realised you were alluding to Vincent, not Greg. My eyes aren't what they were.

Piece of info, Norrman has the double meaning of man from the north, the other meaning "a norwegian", the latter not necessarily always a compliment, least in sports... Our feelings for Hovlands successes are mixed(yes, they are)...

When I speak, I sound like the bastxxx child of Geoffrey Boycott and Sean Bean, but I'm actually half-Norwegian. My mother is from Tromsø, and the entire maternal side of my family are Scandiwegian. Mainly Norway, with a bit of Iceland thrown in.

 

I'm all-in for Hovland success. If he wins a Major, I'll be ranting at the TV, doing my own version of Bjørge Lillelien's famous football commentary. Sweden have had the reins for long enough in the mens' game. 🙂

Lovely as Yorkshire is, I always assumed it was the UK's excellent universities and the flashing smile of my Jim Bergerac-lookalike father.   🙂

LOL dont feel bad I thought the exact same thing on the Norman thing. I had to think for a minute. I know the OP and where he is from I will say sometimes things get lost in translation but then again like you my eyes do not function as they used to neither does my brain

Many years ago, I saw John Nettles play the lead in Coriolanus in Stratford-upon-Avon with a bunch of Japanese exchange students (all girls--I was helping shepherd them around).

The beloved team were looking like being on the receiving end of a double-whammy relegation last year, but they fought back and narrowly missed out on a bounce-back promotion. Only the cursed Forest spoiled the story.

 

Sean has faith. We should be guided by him. Fitzpatrick, I'm sure, would agree.

There is just something about Valderrama for me!

 

Played before 1997 but really got into it in 97 and we went on holiday in the region just before the Ryder Cup. Picked up hats, balls and other bits when we were there and then got to watch it my Uncles House (we didn't have Sky when I was a kid). When I got the chance to buy the official VHS a few months later I watched it over and over and over again to the point that I could recite the commentary word for word like it was my favourite movie. Still love getting the chance to watch it now!
