I wasn't sure. Might be more Latin America than Spain, but I associate it with Spanish-language commentary.

Is there a TV golf course with a higher lowest-level 13-18 than Valderrama? The holes most really watch.

I would say Augusta. Remenber sharing a beer (or two) with Sandy Lyle's caddie. He reckoned the climb from 11th green to clubhouse was murder.

 

Nearly 30 years since I played Valderrama and it is a brute of a course. In truth some of the holes are borderline unfair. Lord knows what the members shoot.

Yep. Seemingly it takes most of the seasons for him to figure out how to hit it straight. Otherwise his short game is always hot, he’s got good lenght and an attitude of performing well in contention seldom seen in the top pros from the Vaterland. The Annika documentary touched on that a little.

Thats only one thing I like about Valderrama. There is no room for just bombing it out, every shot seemingly has to be played with precision..

 

Hidalgo clearly is an asset to the tour. A great character too, that really enjoys inteaction with the patrons too.

 

Seve, blessed in memory, was pretty aloof. Saw him play quite a lot of times. But a lot of pros behaved worse back in the old millenia. Social media makes behaving bad hurt, thats a plus now.

Hoping for a Min Woo spree here. Hopefully lots of birdies, and a 67 or 66 being on the cards.

 

I'm hugely impressed with the lad, after watching him down at Wentworth over the last couple of years. He gives it a fair old wallop for a small-ish man, and his short game is sublime. His chipping and sand play are as good as anyone out there.

I have played it once in the late 90s. Just remember it being so much tighter with the overhanging trees. 

 

Thing I remember the most was a green keeper with one of the 'due whips' chasing a guy off the golf course who was sneaking on to find golf balls! it was so funny just watching him hit him and keep running after him! One of those things I will always remember!

Had the chance to visit Valderrama earlier this year, the TV Coverage is not even close to how it looks, beautiful course and great people running it.

Late to this thread due to not seeing the end of the tournament until yesterday, but I recall sharing a table with an older fellow originally from Lancastershire.  He mentioned his wife was from Yorkshire, and then told us the only two good things to come out of Yorkshire, were the pudding, and the road to Lancastershire.

 

(I'm assuming Lancastershire is the proper name, but he pronounced it "Lancashire".   I'm guessing it's similar to worcestershire....)
