Saw that react, @Valtiel - what say you about the follow through of a child? 🙂

Actually struggled with my irons this past year. Which I really think was due to all the experimenting. And why I'm just back to the old reliable; just softer tips.

Saw a video of him  working with a new 3 wood and it was really shocking how little he knew about clubs. He asked about the hole in the sole and was told it was to put hotmelt in to change weight, sound etc ...dude had no idea what hotmelt was. Didn't know the shaft...nothing. He will never be a Golfwrx member!!

So what.

Not everyone associated with golf must possess a preoccupation to maintain a personal knowledge base that may or may not include certain construction technologies of golf equipment.  Fred's lack of knowledge doesn't keep him from playing well.

Across the United States, thousands of golfers jump into motorized golf carts and drive away with no clue about how a CVT clutch works.  The general public's lack of knowledge doesn't keep them from from getting to the first tee (or driving to the clubhouse for a hot dog on the turn, thus holding up the groups behind them waiting to play the back nine).

Nice one Ferg, that is a deep cut worthy of the tour picture thread.  Of course Fred would have a left hand on the basketball court. I bet he could hold his own in a game of pickup basketball in those days. An athlete is an athlete.

Last time I played Pebble, my caddy was a guy that's been there for like many years and carried for Fred a buncha times. He was like "The last thing he's thinking about out here is golf. He just wants to talk Seattle sports and hot chicks."

Hero material.

I used to play one of those drivers.  It was the longest hitting driver I ever owned.  Back in the day, when Freddy was playing that driver Jack Nicklaus was playing with him in the Wendys three tour challenge and the announcer said Jack asked Freddy if he could send him a couple of those drivers, he said they were amazing.

Alsoi, Freddy only played the i210s for a short time.  He tried them in the Masters one year and went back to his Bridgestone DPCs either mid tournament or the next time event he played and hasn't gone back.  I want to know what model of Betti putter he's using now.  It looks like a custom Queen B or a model 28.  Someone at WRX needs to do a WITB.  No one else besides Tiger gets this much attention when they win.   Freddy is more popular than most tour pros even at 63.  He has been my favorite since 1989.

Was he lazy, or just really that laid back and cool? I have a hard time believing he could get to the level he did with golf if he was truly lazy.

I’ve known Ferguson on here for years. He can assume many forms for his own entertainment. He really embodies the complex and charming villain in his profile picture in the most proper sense.

Speaking personally, I appreciate the continuity. I also appreciate him for being the catalyst to me watching those fantastic, “French Connection” movies.

There are prior threads on this, but I think the laid back vibe is more impression than reality. I watched him in the final group of the Sr. Players one year, he didn’t talk to anyone other than his caddie, he was all business. He was contrasted with Kenny Perry in the group was thanking every volunteer and joking with other players and people in the crowd nearly the entire day.

In any case, Freddie is a generational talent and a blast to watch.

My old mans friend Vance Hefner was Director of Golf for years until he passed a few years back. Vance's Dad was Clayton Hefner and he and my old man were friends. Never met Clayton he passed away a couple of years before I was born. Clayton started and built Eastwood GC in Charlotte and his family operated it until they sold it in the 90s. Of course like 99% of the old school courses I grew up on there is sadly gone

I played it in the 80s with my dad.  My bro went to UNC Charlotte. Thanks
