Fairway Shafts in the 80-ish gram range

Hey Guys,

I'm liking hitting my fairways with the rogue 70 stock shafts but they do feel a little light and was hoping to get them more in line weight wise with the rest of the bag progression wise. Leads me to looking for a couple 80 gram fairway shafts. 

 

A little about me: 103-105 driver SS. AOA is about neutral, maybe hitting up into the ball a little more often now. Transition is quick but I wouldn't say violent. 

 

Looking for something in the mid spin and mid/high launch area, I think. I prefer a little more feel vs something overtly stiff. Any recommendations off-hand?

I found some Tour Blue 85 shafts online.  Haven't yet tried one in my 3w, largely because I'm enjoying the RIP Beta 90 I've got in it now.  Tried it in my 300 Mini, it definitely bumped the flight up a bit.

 

Think Grips4Less has them.

Also in the < $100 category, Evenflow Blue and Black, I have an Black 85 in my 7w 🙂

I love the Accra FX 2.0 300F M5 (I always feel like I’m doing calculus just writing out Accra shaft names) in my 3 wood. It’s a stick at 89g but it’s really stable and and I feel like I can do a lot with it but it doesn’t feel overly boardish  and is pretty smooth for such a heavy/stiff shaft. If you can find a used one (or want to go with the newer FX 3.0 I’d imagine it’s similar) that’s the best way to find them though they’re a bit hard to find now. I have the 200 series in my 5 wood at 79 and it definitely has more kick to it so that may be more of your preferred. I picked one up for 30-40 somewhere. 
 

I’ve also heard really good things about the Oban Kiyoshi purple 85 and Revenge 8 are both great options but more expensive.

I play 70 in my 3w shafts. But, I really like the AD-DI 7x in my current 3w. I also loved the Accra Dymatch 2.0 M5 75 that I had in a previous Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 3w.

 

You can find some of these older (less currently sexy) shafts for pretty good prices. I do think it pays to have a quality shaft in the 3w.

 

If you don't have the coin to purchase MSRP, there are commando alternatives. Just gotta keep your eyes open to deals.

The Dynamatch is the precursor to the FX series that I had talked about! They have RT, MT, ST which is basically 100, 200, 300 series or high/high, mid/mid, low/low. So that’s a great option if you want to go the cheap route.

Accra makes some great shafts. They don't get as much hype, but a very high quality product.

Yeah I’ve kind of fallen in love with their stuff. Found them through Mac Bouchers in the bag and was looking to transition over to x flex stuff in my woods, and was too aggressive for some smoother x flexes (found a cheap tour issue DJ prototype speeder evolution TS) and got a RPG 472 M5 shaft that I absolutely love. Then went after the FX series wood shafts that I love now too. Eventually I’m going to get to the point where my whole bag is Accra at this rate lol. But have nothing but positive reviews. I really want to try the iron and especially the wedge shafts (the iwedge tour 130s look awesome)

Why not give a rogue white 80S a shot? Could probably find one under $100

Motore F1 and F3 can be had for 50

bucks. Heck of a deal and a shaft.

My short list as it goes right now:

AD MJ 8 in stiff

Elements Chrome 8 in stiff

Rogue 80 in stiff

Tensei AV Raw White 75 in Stiff

The only issue I have now is that the LTDx has the Tensei AV Raw White as a non-upcharge shaft.... Making the decision even more complicated lol

I play a Tour AD DI 8S shaft in my 3h and a Hzrdus 6.5 80g Smoke grey in my 4i.

Aldila NVS goes up to 85 in the new one. The old version is kicking around on ebay etc and has a few 100 gram availabilities if memory serves

speeder 757s are 78-79g and pretty mid/mid with good feel

kiyoshi purple 75 04 is also 79g with an amazing kick 

cant forget about the og blueboard or kaili 83g

Diamana BF 80X, I have the TX in my TM Original One 13* and the feel is amazing... for me anyways.
