Bushnell X3 dropped features?!

Here is a quick start guide directly from IOS app. Notice the wind on the left. Asked about it in chat and was told it was "from a rogue website." However, when I informed him it was from their quickstart guide link in the IOS app he said he'd let tech support know. Was this removed?

Thats really upsetting. I'm hoping that its a feature that can be firmware updated back into the unit as well as phone software (once any issues are ironed out). Wind impact was the last environmental factor that still needed to be added that significantly impacts distance.

I've had a few rounds in and at least 3 where I have made a conscious effort to make sure the unit is paired with my phone and the app is connected and have never seen the wind adjustment. It is not a huge turn off for me as my primary reason to upgrade was my last unit finally got internal humidity issues and the view through the scope was always beyond blurry. I do wish they will eventually update the firmware to add this feature.

Asked the same question and never heard an answer. Not surprised, Bushnell customer service is so bad they're product quality can't make up for it. 

Precision Pro R1 measures wind for half the price, as well as gps locator if you lose it. No brainer to me. Can't wait until Bushnell sees their monopoly is shrinking and starts figuring their s*** out.

Interesting however it doesn’t state that the adjusted yardage takes into account the impact of the wind. It states that direction and speed are given however doesn’t necessarily state that it impacts the “plays like distance”.

 

 If that’s the case then it’s similar to the Garmin z82 which tells you the speed and direction but the plays like distance isn’t adjusted.  I know Arccos’ wind data is accounted for in their plays like distance.

So the plus will not only show wind speed and direction, but it will also give you a compensated distance. I was about to pick up an X3, so will likely wait on this now.

When I spoke with the Bushnell rep at the PGA show last week he said that the compensated distance isnt inclusive of the wind data that the x3+ is able to display. Basically the compensated distance is just taking into account the slope and other environmental factors such as pressure, but the impact of wind isnt factored into it. The wind speed and direction is there as an "FYI" but youll still have to self calculate the impact of wind (since "wind impact is an imperfect science that theyre not willing to put into the calculated distance quite yet").

Note: this wind speed number and direction was supposed to launch last year (at the X3 debut) however Bushnell pulled it at the last moment as they were still dealing with a lot of bugs prior to the X3 launch.

Note: some other companies like Arccos' system does give you compensated distances inclusive of wind, however then again Arccos is basically a data analytics company thats willing to put a lot more developers and engineers into the wind impact topic.

Arccos is great while it works but extremely frustrating when it doesn’t. The sensors are expensive and don’t last, they just start weird results and then you need to buy more.
