Vessel Golf Bags

I used some velcro strap protectors and promptly lost them both within a couple of rounds.  Just so easy to forget and leave them on the cart's straps.

 

One workaround for me is I use my towel and try to align them under the car strap when tightening so there's something between strap and the bag.  I think it helpsl.

I have a bud of mine who just bought a new Vessel stand bag and he does the exact same thing as you do. He has had his several months and rides all the time and has no wear issues

This is my concern with the Vessel bag. I’m really interested in the Player 4 model, but worried about wear on the bag without a strap protector. I mostly ride or use a push cart. 
 

I’m leaning towards the DXR model if I do get one because I don’t believe you have to worry about a cart strap with the updated design.

Don't get the Player 4, the are very fragile and the material is super thin.  I love the way mine looks, but I have to baby it so it "tour grade synthetic leather" does wear through.  Also the the water bottle pockets are borderline unusable.

Everybody's got a different experience - but I've got 70+ rounds last year on a VLX and this year on a P4 with no issues.  I'm pretty rough on my stuff as well, these bags have been crammed in tight trunks, been in rain and blazing sun, multiple trips to the range etc..  I forget to use the cart strap and probably have only used it half the rounds and no issues so far with mine.   Ping bags were always the workhorse when I played competitive and traveled for competitive golf because those things are tanks, I would put my Vessel bags right up there with them.

Great intel here. I’ve been back  and forth on a getting a vessel to replace my hoofer but like you, my bag sees all the elements plus my trunk plus a lot of carts. Good to know the Vessel’s will hold up. What color do you have?

I have a black and a carbon blue VLX 2.0. Intially the VLX was my main bag but after using the Players IV for a trip I haven't moved anything back, the VLX has become my range bag for now.    Both colors have held up so far.  There might be some slight fading in the top liner on both bags, but without something to compare it to it's hard to tell, but whatever the outside material is still looks great   I finally did clean up both bags yesterday with some water/soap and they look like new. 

 

It'll be a year or two before I say I have any long term info to work off of, but I'd for sure say the Players has held up in the same way I would expect a Ping bag to at this point in usage.  I'd even give the nod to the legs being stronger/better than the Ping bags, those were always the weakest thing on those bags.  I feel like any ping bag I had, I somehow bent one of the legs within weeks of usage.

I was looking at new bags a few weeks ago and gave the Lux 14W a hard look. The bag was very good looking and well built. 

 

The things that swayed me away from it was the price and the fabric they use on the top of the club dividers. To me that gave it a very cheap look/feel.

FYI, it's been several months since I put this in place, and the leg drooping problem is no longer an issue for me.  Love carrying my vessel bag!

Yes!    sorry for not responding earlier, but this is the one.   If you have loose or drooping legs on your Vessel, this will solve it.

Also I will add, I thought the price for this replacement piece was a bit pricey, but several months into it, definitely worth it as I no longer have to deal with the loose legs snagging on my shorts/pants every walking round.  The way this CNC piece is built, I don't think I ever have to replace it again (ie, it's a one-time purchase/fix)

I like my Vessel bags (I own two).  I've solved the droopy leg issue, and I've solved the abrasion issue with golf cart straps on the few occasions I use a golf cart (just wrap something around the straps, I use cheap auto seat belt covers), but the water bottle pockets still annoy the heck out of me (another good member suggested slim water bottles, but why can't you just easily slip in/slip out a standard water bottle without frustration?)  First world problems, haha, I'm still golfing and all is good!
