CBX upgrade questions, mostly about grind and bounce, have originals, looking at Zipcore

I have a CBX 56 and 60 degree wedge in my bag currently.  My wedges prior to these were vokey spin milled.  I couldn't do anything with those.  Couldn't chip, pitch, or hit a full shot to save my life.  The CBX wedges were a literal game changer.  I've had my wedges since 2017 or 18, so they're getting a little long in the tooth.  The shafts in my two clubs also don't match because one was a hand me down, and neither matches the weight of my current iron shafts that I was fitted for recently.  I have a 90 gram graphite 56, and a 115 DG steel on the 60.

In looking at the current options, it seems I can go CBX Zipcore or with a full face cbx.  In either case, the sole grinds will be way different than what I currently game.  Unless I'm reading it wrong, it says all the OG CBX clubs had the V grind, correct?  So even my 60 has the v grind?  In the zipcore, the 56 has the S, and the 60 the C.  I'm not too worried about the 60 changing, but I've had really good success with the 56 on full shots, chipping, and pitching.  So much so I'm afraid to change anything.  Would I find the S grind much different?

How about shafts?  I'm currently playing steel DG 95 VSS shaft in my irons.  It looks like they offer a 95 gram graphite shaft.  Would that likely be my best bet?

I love my CBX Zipcores (54 and 58), but they do have a tendency to go left on full/partial shots from the fairway. I attribute to the Dynamic Gold 115 Spinner shaft being a bit on the soft side. I would not give up on these heads though they are great, although you may want to consider the full face one for your 60, and regular cbx zipcore for everything else. Try the DG 115 Spinner that it comes with in both the full face and regular, or the graphite, they both may work for you, but for me, I like the Project X LZ 5.5 or 6.0 soft-stepped (so the 8 iron in the 50, 9 in the 56-60). It effectively creates the same spinner feel of the DG, but with much tighter dispersion for me, goes dead straight. Basically the trick is to buy one flex up from your current flex. So if you use an R flex, get an S flex 8 iron for your 50, and an S flex 9 iron for 54-60. Big fan of this approach and the PX LZ shaft in general. My other wedges btw are the PING Glides, been a PING wedge and Cleveland guy most of my life.

I have had every iteration of the CBX wedges since they came out.

The CBX Zipcore is the best one IMO

I still game a CBX2 full face 58* because I like the full face out of the sand.

I have the stock shafts in both of my wedges and they work well for me.

I do not find my ball going left on full shots as the previous poster said, but every one's swing is different.

If you like the original CBX then the CBX Zipcore is a no brainer IMO

I will game my CBX2 Full Face until they release a full face CBX Zipcore.

Hopefully soon.

Good luck

Yes, OG CBX is a V grind.

There shouldn't be much difference between the V and S.  The S is basically the V grind with some heel relief (and both are stated 12° bounce), to let the leading edge sit a little closer to the ground when opening the face up.  Square faced shots would pretty much present the same turf interaction on V and S.

I have an OG 54 and 60 that have been my favorite wedges coming from blade & CB Clevelands, and other blades.  I recently bought a 60 CBX Zipcore to test because it has a C grind, for "added versatility" that I probably don't need because the OG 60° is like magic for me lol.

CBX line IMO is a worthy test because it's a bigger departure from most other wedges that aren't really all that different from each other, esp. if someone's looking for some kind of significant difference, still able to manipulate all the shots, but short of going to a Smart Sole wedge.

Thanks for the info.  Seems crazy that they put the v sole on the 60, but I use it pretty often for full shots so I guess now I understand why it makes sense.

That said, I had a recent lesson in which I only hit flop shots with my 56 off a tight lie.  The purpose was to soften my hands and increase chest rotation, but the fact that you can flop a cavity back 56 off of a tight lie makes me wonder why anyone needs a blade at all.

If you like the CBX wedges, you will LOVE the CBX Zips. Imho they are the most consistent, forgiving wedges on the market.

That's good practice getting a feel for the low point.  Everyone used to hit those messing around all the time way back when I played in high school because it was fun.

That V in the 60 just works for me.  The V tapers off by the heel (they called it a dual V), so it's not sitting so high when opening the face, but the S and C should be a little better off tight lies for that.

Adding that there's definitely a stigma for some to play a non-blade wedge because it's "supposed" to be for high handicaps, but if you have skills they can work great despite people's claims of them being too bulky looking or too hot for touch shots... That's totally unfounded for me.  They're not super thin faced GI irons with fast ball speeds.  I think they're "forgiving" in every way vs all my past blade wedges (which all worked fine), but to each his/her own.
