Wrist Tendonitis

Anybody have a cure?

I know a low dose of Aleeve, Advil, etc for two weeks helps keep the swelling of the tendon down, but I am not a fan of blowing out my liver. Ice isn't always practical. The other cure is to splint it and not use it for a period of time which again is impractical.

Anyone out there do anything or treat your tendonitis in a way that has worked for you? Some days I cannot even hold a club. Any and all advice is always welcomed. Thanks!

Are you sure it's tendinitis and not arthritis? Regardless, anti-inflammatories and rest.

I've been there. I was afraid to play golf and it hurt - esp those fat shots Also, my Doc recommended decompression surgery. Glad I didn't do that.

 

Mine came from too much use of the mouse. Found something called mousetool.com ( clicks

for you ). Also, use fellows touch pad.

 

I wd recommend taking some time away from the game ( rest ) and keep doing what you are doing, NSAIDS, Ice etc. In time - it will get better.

PS - I also tried thicker grips (didn't help - my game). So, there's shock absorbing grips and gloves ( footjoy - which I recommend.) It's about 20 bucks in Golf Glaxy. Graphite shafts. So, there are some equipment changes you can make.

subject I know too well..

 

 

last year had it really bad on my right wrist..

 

1. go to the doctor and get the brace that isolates the thumb..must must wear it at night, because this is when you are injuring it more.

2. if #1 does not work (it helped a little for me) get a cortisone shot. Now you cant get this all the time, but damn it was a miracle.

3. Exercise it once you are heeled.. I do the thumb to pinky every morning for a few minutes to stretch the tendon out.

 

best of luck to you.. I still have it very slight on both wrist, but certainly not to the degree I used to have it. There were times were I was afraid to pick up my daughter for fear I would drop her, the pain was so intense.

No, it was diagnosed as such. Thanks for the other tip. Made me chuckle. Maybe this last suggestion would save me money for more clubs! Sounds like you've been there. Thanks for the advice. :drinks:

Hi ICE and rest as well but you may want to try another shaft (less vibration)I had wrist surgery old hockey injury ... Cut a tendon in a freak accident...

 

Anyway strenthen u r hands as well you know the muscles around the tendons I hope this helps.

There aren't many choice for those injuries: time ! It's (almost) the only way to heal, sorry :drinks: :beach:

Sleeping with the wrist brace is what worked for me. It seems to help it heal up quicker.

I take a MSM w/Glucosamine vitamin supplement everyday to help with my reoccurring wrist pain and it really seems to help, I would definitely suggest giving it a try. I also wear a wrist brace from time to time when I play, depending on the way I feel before the round.

I once had a Doc threaten to put me in cast over tendonitis if its inflamed rest is the only thing I know and anti inflamatorys.

 

To keep it from inflamming tape your wrist or wear wrist bands

Make an appointment to see an orthopaedic hand surgeon so that you can be sure to get the correct diagnosis; and thus the correct treatment.

That is what I am dealing with right now.

 

About a month ago I fell onto my wrist. I thought I fractured my Triquetral bone. The xray was negative for fracture. I got an MRI the next day and I just had fluid in my wrist and swelling of my extensor carpi ulnaris tendon. I have be wearing a brace (I was desperate to try the Magnet junk without success - knowing full well that as an MD that they do not work), and I have been stretching multiple times a day.

I hand tendinotis in my wrist, could not get rid of it for a year, tried rest, anti-inflamatoriesm=, accupunture, cortisone shots, final the orthopedic had to do surgery, as you get older you get bone spurs and I had one which was shreading the tendon. Have a MRI done and try the rest, but be prepared.

Oh man, I feel your pain. Last year I was diagnosed with tendoninitis, a cyst and slight arthrtis by a Ortho after Xray & MRI Told to take 2 aleve a day and went to PT for 6 weeks. Well right after the PT wrist felt better but all and all no improvement. Long story short went back to Ortho bitching about no improvement. He called in the Wrist/Hand guy who looked at my MRI and said. No wonder you have a torn ligament. I knew then exactly when it happened. About 2 years prior fell playing Bball. Told Wrist guy this and in typical MD fashion. he replies" we see this type of injury all the time, way after the fact" According to him they can not do any surgery because injury happened so long ago.

Well guess what I did. I went to a accupunturist. No she did not cure me but in 3 visits the constant ache was gone. I can play golf but have to wear a elastic wrist bandage.

Trust me I was skeptical but really didn't think taking 2 aleve the rest of my life was a good thing.

Old thread I know. But recently diagnosed with ulnar collateral tendinitis. Just wanted to comment on an old thread to say it sucks and although not hat bad, it hurts to full swing a club. I did play recently and found that I struck the ball pretty damn well for 9 holes at 50% swings ( somehow won a few skins also!!!). Rhythm and a 3:1 tempo are your friend for consistent impact.

Rest it. Even when you come back, a wrap or brace and graphite shafts will probably be helpful.
