2022 Mizuno RB Tour and RB Tour X

Got a chance to spend a considerable amount of time with the new iteration of the RB Tour/x on trackman and I have to say its a HUGE improvement over the previous gen.  The previous gen was just a spin monster.  If you are a low spin or low speed player I'm sure they were great but the new balls are going to surprise a lot of high spin/speed players.  I really enjoyed both of the new balls.  The RB tour was noticeably softer (similar to chrome soft) and spun a little less overall for me while launching slightly lower.  The RB tour X was firmer (but not as firm as Prov1x) and spin a little more especially on short iron/wedge shots.  With driver they both had similar total distances but the tour x carried a couple yards more with about 100-200 rpm less spin.  My swing speed with a 7 iron is 97 and 116 with driver.  Both balls had no issues keeping up with my swing.  Overall, I was very impressed and actually bought a dozen of both to test on course.  At $42/dozen it would be an amazing value if it performs similar to my current gamer (Prov1x).

Ordered a box of each myself and need to get to the sim to check things. Putting wise they both have very good feel off of both milled and insert putters. Neither one feels too soft or too clicky. Hoping they perform as well on the radar for me.

As a Z-Star / Tour B player this ball is definitely on my radar. It sounds like Mizuno have put a lot of time and effort into developing this one. It seems they have also listened to the feedback about the poor durability of their previous balls. 

 

The X model sounds like it might fit between a Pro V1 and ProV1x, which would be 👌.

Really good vid here with comparison to the Pro V1, not sure how the new 2023 Pro V1 will compare but seems like the RB Tour is almost a left do type performance

Was testing the TourX ball against the Z Star Diamond. The tour X felt awesome. I’m a low launch/spin hitter and the tour X ball put the ball flight into a great window for me. With my ZX 7…..7 iron I was getting 5,800-6,000 revs and launching around 15-16 degrees. Average descent angle was 47 degrees. The diamond is also great. More testing to be done but so far the tour X is strong contender for next years ball. 
 

Lower spin balls like the Pro V1, etc. are borderline unplayable for me as the launch/spin drops way to low.

I am extremely disappointed in the durability. I picked up a dozen of each of these. I’ll post pictures tomorrow but I used a brand new RB Tour for a sim league Tuesday night. Used it for maybe 4-5 holes and it was done. Back to Pro V1 for me.

Dang, thats a bummer to hear.  Scuffed up pretty bad that quick using on a simulator?

Literally pulled in new out of the sleeve and can’t remember if it was 4 or 5 holes.

Mizuno gave me a free sleeve of the RBX Tour with my new S23 wedges.  I used one yesterday and the cover was beat up within a few holes and I did not hit a cart path or a tree.  Not durable at all.

Yikes.  They threw a sleeve in my new Mizuno irons. Was going to give them a try this weekend. I'd heard nothing good about the old generation and thought maybe this one would be better. Not a lot to get excited about in this thread.

Bought a dozen of the rb tour’s and played today. Didn’t notice any unusual damage that I don’t see with any other balls. What I did notice is that this might be one of the best balls in the wind I’ve ever played. There was a constant 20 mph wind with gusts higher and it seemed like the ball was barely affected. Of course straight into the wind or downwind I saw a loss or gain of distance but the ball didn’t seem to be affected side to side at all.

Played the rb tour from 2019 for last 2 years and loved it all around 

about to run out....so about to test the new one 

hearing cover more durable (despite post above) and looking forward to trying to aero-package this one has with the unique dimples

other than that, expecting similar to last one - we will see

I havent tried the new ones but I probably wont. I went through 1 dozen of the previous gen in 2 rounds. The unfortunate thing is performance wise its a great fit for me, but the durability is absolutely awful

still have a bunch in reserve...

 

new one...driver solid, irons ok, wedge ok, but something totally OFF with putter 

felt light or something....couldn't get it to hole.....strange feel to it....did Not like it

I had the exact same feeling with the putter. It just feels odd and I’ve hit well over 100 putts with it on my putting green comparing to other balls and like you said it doesn’t come off the face like other balls. It’s hard to explain, but it’s definitely harder to get to the hole. I liked the ball with all my other clubs and I never got that feeling like it does with the putter.

Tried the RB Tours, loved them. Great feel, spin was higher(wedges and irons)than most for me, which is what i need. Had no issues with durability. Great ball for the buck! Only problem for me is I have to order them online and buy 2 dz. to get free shipping. Same price as TM TR, which I can buy anywhere. So for that reason, I am sticking with TM TR.
