Kaili White TX vs Ventus black X

Wow! i'm surprised how subjective feel can be through a golf shaft. Every review i've read on Golfwrx, I've heard Kaili White tx is supposedly less stout/softer/more feel than ventus black x flex. I'm currently gaming both in a driver/3w combo. both tipped accordingly and found Kaili White tx to feel 'boardier' than ventus black x. Before receiving the shaft I was weary kaili white would feel "softer" than i desired. Not the case at all.

 

Definitely requires slightly less load in the handle than ventus black x but overall Kaili white tx felt stiffer to me. Kaili definitely has more "catch" at contact than ventus black , while ventus is more "crisp" but as stated above Kaili white tx feels stouter to me. Super interesting, goes to show how far technology in shafts have come. Has anybody noticed this as well?

Shafts are funny.

 

I'm currently on a shaft journey with my Ping driver. Tried a 70 gram HZRDUS yellow 6.0, and it felt stiff as a board and hard to load. Currently gaming a HZRDUS RDX Black Smoke 60 in 6.5 flex and it's a sweet spot for me. A lot less demanding than the yellow in softer flex.

 

Never would've expected the results I experienced based on specs on paper, but here I am.

What did you have them tipped? I’ve had both when I had TM woods. The Kai’li is underrated for sure. I didn’t think the Kai’li felt too boardy but that’s a feel I like. I’ve been thinking of trying a Kai’li in my tsr4 but have the ventus black 8x in my 3 wood. I preferred the ventus in the 3 wood over the Kai’li 80tx in the fairway since I could control the black a little better. To be fair some of it could of been from the black having more time in my hands.

 I've got the driver tipped 1" and the 3w 1.5". driver length 45.75" and 3w 43". I'm thinking it might be from difference of head CG and length. Think cutting the butt of kaili to 3w brought in some stability. If ventus feels good in 3w I'd definitely stick with ventus with driver. Youd probably feel too much load in the handle with kaili in the drive

I’ve got the 1k black currently that I’m debating on. The black 6x I’m mixed on whether I love it or not. Doesn’t have that point and shoot feel the 8x does in my 3 wood

I had the stock x flex 1k black in my tsr 3w and that felt extemely stable for a stock shaft. Interestingly I was about to go for the 1k black for the driver as well to compliment current kaili in 3w.  Far from apples to apples but 1k black felt stronger in the mid section than ventus black 6x. The 1k weave also feels satisfying when the shaft unloads 

 

might build up a 1k black 65tx as well. But, I’m unsure if it puts out high ball speeds like ventus black. Both are definitely low spin to me at least

I actually spun the 1k less than the black but the ball speed was slightly better in the ventus but I am thinking of ordering a 1k black 65tx and tip it an inch and then compare. I think that would be comparable as the ventus I was testing was tip 1/2 to an untipped 1k. I had a 1inch tipped ventus in a stealth that was great until it snapped on me.

sounds like we have similar swingspeeds/ ball speeds (175-180) range. That sounds like the ultimate combo (1k black tx tipped an inch). Thats funny to me.. my last ventus snapped in the handle as well.. quite a heartbreak but it was before the 1k black was out so jus got ventus replaced under warranty. would be super intrigued to hear your results with 1k black tx tipped 1". I wonder if the added stability would maintain your ball speeds better or even faster 🤩

Mine broke in the tip section right above the adapter. Then I tried the 1/2 tipped ventus in a tsr4 and it wasn’t bad but not the same feel as being tipped an inch. I think the 65tx might be the ticket. Just got to order it and give it a shot and see. Titleist doesn’t tip the 1k black in the driver. Overall the 1k for a stock offering is really solid.

it really is an impressive shaft i'm suprised titleist is giving it out as a 'stock' option. hope it works out better for you than ventus did. I agree with you ventus doesn't feel point and shoot, It really only likes to hit with a draw for my swing. Fades get sketchy with it. if i have to go back to kaili, I heard phizzy state that it's more stable than ventus tr blue and felt as stable as ventus tr black. Also Mitsubishi said kaili had the stiffer tip than 1k black.. which i find hard to believe.. 1k black is a beast

Yeah the 1k black seems stiffer than the Kai’li but I would say Kai’li has more feel like the ventus TR. Really surprised the kai’li and now the 1k haven’t gotten more love with how solid they are. I might end up buying both but I plan on starting with the tipped 1k

jus had some more swings with the woods and the kaili still feels stouter than my ventus black. starting to speculate it's exact build specs lol. 

 

heard rickie is playing the 1k black in his aerojet. maybe you guys are on to something..

my ball speed numbers were similar between the 1k black and the ventus black. I’m curious on what the 1k black might be if it changes anything with it being tipped

dam. I am so tired of changing shafts really thought ventus black would be in the bag all 2023.. like you said 1k black

 does feel more point and shoot..

 

I even emailed a seller on the bay how much an adapter will cost for a 1k black. need to resist.. but i'm also a plus handicap (+2) who can always use more accuracy on the driver during pressure situations in tournaments/qualifiers. i'm confused again.

Haha I feel you there.. +4.1 here and all I want is consistency with the driver. Distance I’m not concerned with and the 1k black has given me that. When I’m in tournament I don’t have confidence with the driver. I got the tsr after the majority of my tournament so I won’t know about that until next season.

I used to have a Diamana Limited D+ 70 TX then switched to Ventus Black 7X and at times thought the Ventus was a bit too stout. I was thinking of making the switch to Kaili so interesting to hear people say it feels stiffer.

I'd say kaili felt stouter overall but it also felt easier to load? its not clearly making sense but thats the feeling i got from it. also, the kaili had more of a compressed catch at impact whereas ventus black seemed to have a crisp 'hit' feeling. 

 

small marginal differences in feels but i'm sure the numbers are quite similar

Who knows. I think the TR overall feels better in the 6x from quick testing so that might be an option. Love the OG black feel but just doesn’t work in a driver for me for some reason. May end up buying both 1k black and TR to test

is this the TR black or TR blue? never tried the TR line. heard they give better club head awareness. It's surprising to see you didn't like the 6x in the driver but feel confident in the 8x 3w. maybe og ventus black was too light feeling for you?

Kaili is a different feel than I’ve had previously. Love whiteboard OG and played 1k, PD  and VB 6x and tx. PD and VB tx were way too boardy for me. 1k felt good but felt I could lose it, felt spinny even though it wasn’t. Used VENTUS black 6x tipped 1” for two years and thought was the best then tried the kaili white 60tx. At first thought was too stout so quickly went back to VB but there was something to the feel as I kept it and then tried again and now it’s in the bag. Like above it feels stout but easy to load it’s kinda weird. The tip is ultra stiff and has such a SOLID feel when hitting the ball I think that’s what makes it feel stouter than it is. Now I love it and tried VB the other day and quickly went back ha!

thank goodness i'm not the only one! yes the kaili white feels stouter to me than VB too.. but kaili is easier to load lol.. if only mcilroy switched to kaili white tx in drive then i would give my condolences to vb6x. have you found more or same ball speeds since switching from VB6x tipped 1" to kaili white 60 tx tipped 1"?

Are you all talking about the stock KaiLi that is a free upgrade with TM woods?  I have it in the 3 and 5W and told my fitter it felt great….  Got the old “it’s not exotic so we don’t carry it”. Yet TGX - who they own - has reviewed them. You are all making me want to step up to x from stiff to see if it is even better at fighting the hooks.

TR black I had in a stealth that was tipped 1/2. Didn’t test it long before I ended up getting fit into my tsr4.

No it’s the TX which is only available aftermarket but Mitsubishi said it’s the same shaft not watered down in other flexes.

I don’t use trackman I find it’s too honest lol and I just start chasing numbers. I hit is further then my other shafts and straighter. Been working hard on the swing so could be that as well.

stealth —> tsr4. Overall did the head feel more balanced thru the swing ? Saw that tsr4 is faster off the face than stealth plus... 

tsr4x 1k black/kaili white might be better than stealth x ventus.......

I really liked the stealth/ventus black Og combo up until it snapped. I like the smaller head of the tsr4 more, shape fits my eye a little better. Now if I have a ventus that was tipped an inch then I’d have a better comparison. Still think I might end up buying a Kai’li to try as well in the 4. The tsr was more consistent across the face for me which is something I was looking for. I miss more toward the toe so it maintaining speed from that strike was key. It did the same for me when I purposely hit it toward the heel it performed the same.
