Budget-minded 5W purchase

I actually went BACK to the 915. Hence the “bright new and shiny” comment. 😂

Still playing the TSi 7W tho.

Now THAT'S a ringing endorsement.  Isn't it the general consensus that the current TSI line is pretty much the benchmark for all that is fairway and beautiful?  Doesn't a sparkly, multicolor unicorn that picks up your ball and gently places it within gettable eagle-putt range of the hole get summoned every time you even think about hitting TSI fairway on a long par 5?

Turns out you can make too good of a club, in spite of yourself (Titleist)

I had the OG Tour Edge Exotics from 2007 or 8'ish.  Absolute missile.  Anti-hook as well.  Any of the old exotics are rad and can be bought with decent Aldila shafts on ebay for $80 or less.

I'm hoping to find the club that carries 245ish and can hold a green with a driver SS of ~ 110mph

Any other experiences with TEE stuff being too low spin?  And any favorites/duds among the CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, or CBX?

I didn't find mine to be particularly low spinning.  I would say higher ball speeds and normal spin.

If you struggle with hooks try a Ping G 5w. You can find the older Gs for $50-60 and they are just as good as the new $400 Gs.

Ping Rapture v2 4w (16.5) is still in my bag, albeit with a real shaft and not that trash stock stuff.

Trying to keep it in the < $80 range if possible.  A couple candidates in the Tour Edge shop, but are they any good?

I'm a big fan of statements like "This club from 2014 is every bit as good as anything made today, is never leaving my bag, and can be found for peanuts on eBay" 🙃

Are they any good?

The most under-rated fairway woods out there.

I found my tour edge 7 wood for 80 with a ADDI shaft...favorite club my bag.

I live in the budget minded golf world, and have both a TEE CBX 119 and Titleist 915F currently in the bag at a little higher SS.  If interested in TEE at lower prices than their preowned site, other than ebay, check out 2ndswing.com.  Search "exotics wood", sort by lowest price, and you will find a decent amount that probably fits what you're looking for.

I can only speak for CB3, CBX, CBX 119 and a short stint with a CB2, but they're all pretty hot "players" heads that will always hold their own as far a ball speeds.  Delivery, strike, spin, that depends on the user.  Honestly if you search for reviews on almost any club you will probably find people vouching for them, so it's all up to you to test and figure it out!

The original Callaway Rogue fairway wood lineup (2016 or ‘17?) is great. I picked up used but not abused 4 wood and 7 wood heads for $60 each and am getting them refinished (Continental Golf in NC does nice work). Amazingly easy to hit off tee or turf and I get more height out of these than I do the Titleist TSi2.

I have three 7 woods — a TM V-Steel, the Titleist and the Rogue. The Rogue is my favorite — longest, easiest to hit, stops on a green. If I didn’t game this one I would go to the Titleist. I like the V-steel but the Callaway has a shape that really suits my eye. It’s actually hard to find an og Rogue 7 wood in nice condition as it has quite a following.

Another super cheap choice is the Cobra F8. Performs the same as the newer ones. Resale value is low so easy to pick up cheap.

Adams Super S or Tight Lies 2. They are both easy to launch. I prefer the Super S I think it’s a little longer. You should be able to find both inexpensively. They both stayed in the bag for a long time until I replaced them with a Sub 70 949X 4W. It’s just as easy to launch but much longer. If you want to stretch your budget a bit it was only $189 when I bought it in August.

Adams was known for their Tight Lies line of fairway woods. I'd also recommend Ping G30 or G models, both are adjustable hosel if that means something to you.

Awesome suggestions, all!

This gives me a decent stack of options to keep my eye out for, and that's what I was after.  I'm pretty much shaft-shopping now with the heads everyone has listed as my initial search criteria.

Which maybe opens a new side of things here...   With my price point, I'm seem to be targeting the golden era of the "made-for" shaft options.  See a lot of versions of Aldila NV out there in different sticks, Fujikura made-for's, and so on.  If there's some known lemons out there that aren't going to represent the club well, please lemme know (a la azgreg's comment on the V-Steel stock offerings).

And on the other side of the spectrum, any real-deal sleepers that came stock I should be aware of?  (Think: Wilson Triton driver that came with the then-gold-standard Aldila Rogue Silver 125MSI 🤑.  Also, the Cally RFX stuff was said to have the genuine article Aldila's as well)

TM burner TP gets my vote. Having played the 3 wood for ages I picked up a 5 wood to replace my 2 iron occasionally. Was really cheap and performs great for me. Stock tp branded fujikura works well enough too.

Some say TP shafts are not the the stock versions. Maybe confirmed by later TP gear I have: R11 and RBZ s2.

Definitely a bonus.  I'm currently not sure what loft would be best, so I'm hunting anywhere from about 16* to 19*

Given your OP indicated issues/lack of love for fairway woods, more loft is your friend.

FWIW, if I could find a V-Steel with an aftermarket shaft in stiff, it'd already be in the mail.

I installed TT DG S300 shafts in all my V-Steels and I'll be buried with them that way.

Welp, found a V-Steel 18* with a Graphite Design YS-6 MSI 70 Stiff stuck in it for $45 to my door, and quickly pulled the trigger.  But being a card-carrying WRX club ho, I'll be ready to pounce on a few more suggestions from this thread if they pop up with a shaft that looks enticing.

And then I'll sell them all and just suck it up and buy the 915F and put a Velocore in it 🤣
