"Please god tell me you at least considered Cape Kidnappers?!?!?! It's literally my favorite course in the world. Not just pretty either, it's an amazing track."

30 days out and based on the cyclone that just ripped apart the east coast of New Zealand we may have "lucked" out by not doing Cape Kidnappers.  That whole area is wrecked.  As of yesterday the entry to just get into Cape Kidnappers was not open I guess or just getting to the point they could get in.   I guess there is a few courses on the east coast they will have to completely rebuild it sounds like.

We are playing two courses in Taupo which is middle of the north peninsula area and the Wairakei course lost 60-80 trees based on the wind.  Kinloch had damage but not much as it is a dunes/link course so that is good to know.

We added Royal Auckland Golf Club to our trip and emailing with the member it came through in fantastic shape.  I guess they are all surprised with all the flooding.  Though they rebuilt all three 9's and clubhouse a few years ago and put in an amazing drainage system.

Anyone know if the Springs got hit like Denver did? Curious if there will be any options Monday. Prefer not to go all the way out to 4 mile, but i might.

They all got hit.   Springs, Peublo and Canon City.

We have a time at Walking Stick on Sunday but looking at it, I think Peublo got ihi with 5-6 inches yesterday.

Supposed to be 49-54 Friday and Saturday but not sure warm enough to melt that much off in two days. If they had only a few inches maybe but not 5-6 inches I would assume.

Canon City by Monday might have melted off though.

Sounds like the Springs and Pueblo got hit with quite a bit of snow. Some friends said COS schools had to scramble and close early.

I'm annoyed. Going to the Broadmoor this weekend and won't be able to take advantage of the free winter golf.

I'd like to play it just once!

You likely missed your window to do it at a somewhat reasonable rate. 5 years ago they had the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame charity event there and you could play it for $350 with lunch, unlimited alcohol and dinner. Now, unless you know someone at ReMax or have a company pay for a sponsorship, you're lucky to find a charity event that has openings for $600. Sanctuary's official minimum for charities is $400, but I haven't seen an event anywhere near that the last three years.

Yeah, I know, I should have done it years ago.  I always monitor the auctions where I see a foursome listed and it always goes for some stupid amount.  I'm willing to pay a lot to play some cool courses but even I have my limits!

It's not worth it. If you got lucky and found it for $400 and were having a good year it might be worth a splurge just to see it once, but you need to forget about the money because it will never live up to that. Some of the holes are outright ridiculous for a golf course.

Secret tip: you can get a ridiculously cheap rate over Super Bowl weekend at The Broadmoor. There is a certain amateur sporting event that takes place there every year which attracts individuals and teams from all over the US. Starting around June 1, do a search for "(famous 14er near Colorado Springs) (a common synonym for a trophy)" and look for the hotel link. Monitor that link until it opens for registration. It's been a 4-5 years, but back when my kids competed, it was usually $175-200/night.

Hey guys! Been a long time since I've been on here. I completely wrecked my left ankle nearly 6 months ago which took me over 3 months to recover from, then had hand surgery a little over a month ago, so playing golf really hasn't been possible aside from one round in December. I'm finally recovered, though woefully out of shape now 😂, and am getting excited to play again.

Last season, was mostly forgettable and average. The big highlight for me was shooting a 74 (with a double and a 3-putt) in round 2 of our club championship, which was a personal best by one. Naturally, I didn't win any skins money lol. If I didn't have a quad in both of my other rounds, I would have won 🤬. Oops!

For this coming season, I need to work on my approach shots. I feel like I missed too many greens last year, particularly from within ~130yds. I also need to get my partial shots dialed back in. I felt so confident a couple seasons ago from 55-90yds, but I just didn't have the feel last year - I guess that happens when you don't practice much! With that, I plan on practicing more lol.

The only thing I feel I "need" is a new driver, but it's touch to justify spending $600+ when my current driver still works pretty well for me. Everything else in my bag is great.

I'm part of the Burb's men's club again. I tried to get a couple of my friends to join too, but there must not have been many spots left at all cause they were wait-listed even though they signed up right when it opened. It's slowly getting more diversified with cool, younger golfers that don't take themselves so seriously 😂.

I have a trip planned for Northern Michigan to play Treetops and Otsego. Northern Michigan is a great destination for golf. We do it every year, and it's one of the things I look forward to most in the year. That and Crested Butte which I head down there tonight!

I was an assistant at sanctuary from 2013-2015 I’ve played maybe 200 rounds there.

There are some crazy holes for sure, if you play it enough you learn where to hit it and it’s easy to get jaded BUT if we’re quantifying the value of the first time you play that course as a dollar amount it’s gotta be more than $400.

Gotta keep in mind that if you’re buying a foursome in an auction you’re coming out on a daily play day, not as part of an outing, 15 minute intervals with a BIG emphasis on pace.

If you haven’t played the course before I’d say it’s worth whatever you paid for it.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the golf course....

'We're gonna need a bigger shovel'

https://www.9news.com/article/weather/weather-colorado/winter-storm-colorado/73-72e19ba3-909e-4244-a862-cba2e12e5e45

Moderate to heavy snow showers move into Denver, and portions of the Interstate 25 corridor, by the Wednesday morning commute. Snow is likely throughout the day on Wednesday, with Wednesday evening's commute the most impacted.

Look for 2 to 6 inches of snow in the Denver area from Wednesday's storm, though there's a fair degree of uncertainty in the forecast. Higher amounts are likely in Fort Collins and northern Colorado, where 4 to 8 inches of snow could fall.

The snow should end Wednesday night for most of the state, including Denver.

I remember several years ago Highland Meadows had a booth there and I got a free round. Now they’re darn near $100! I bet they’re not giving out freebies any more.

I recall that.  I recall a number of Denver area courses had pre pay rounds which was two rounds for the price of one.   And some mountain courses had some killer deals.

I went - best deal there was the leather golf gloves from Aces & Pins.  They were $2 each - I bought 9 of them!

I won a free large bucket of balls from South Suburban and a free ticket to the upcoming Korn Ferry event at TPC Colorado in July.

Other than that, the usual stuff - free golf towel, couple of free golf hats, tees, etc.

But, parking downtown is ridiculous, I paid $35 to park across the street.  Sure do miss the Golf Expo when it was held at the Denver Marketplace - cheaper tickets, much bigger, more vendors and FREE parking.  My buddy bought some golf shoes from Lenny's for $99, which he was happy about.

Speaking of shoes - if anyone likes the Adidas Spikeless Golf Shoes, they have them at the Adidas store at the Castle Rock Outlet for $65 with 50% off right now!!

I don't wear spikeless shoes, but if you do -- get over there now!

Nice deal on the gloves. At least that made up for the parking. Switching to the convention center was a horrible move by them. It's the main reason I no longer go.

There's online sites selling those spikeless Adidas for even less. They must not have been big sellers because they are being dumped all over.

spothero.com is your friend. Pretty sure you can park at the Pavilions for under $10.

I was up in Boulder today with my daughter touring CU (most likely her school of choice unless Georgia Tech or ASU comes in with ridiculous scholarships). I drove by Coal Creek, and the holes along 36 sure looked playable--if you could keep the ball anywhere on the course. Crazy windy today.

When they moved it is when I stopped going as well. Even if I could find cheap(er) parking, I avoid driving downtown whenever possible.  We’ve taken our oldest grandson to a couple of shows there, but they live in Highlands ranch so we take the light rail, it drops us off right out front. But they don’t have any service from from the Thornton-Westminster I25 area. Part of the reason I don’t go to more Rockies games (even though I think the parking there is easier).

I think it's a fun, interesting track. It's definitely something I would hate to play every day (Jim Engh gone wild) but his courses are great to play once or now and then. I've only played it as my wife had a friend that worked for RE-MAX as a graphic designer and wasn't a golfer. There are some tee shots out there from the tips that are pretty intimidating (much like Bear Dance.)
