I get it.  I used to feel the same way until I visited the northeast coast.  While Jacksonville and Daytona Beach aren't my cup of tea, I really do like St. Augustine and the Palm Coast area.  As much as we enjoy St. Augustine we would never live there because of the tourist activity.  Palm Coast is quite a bit slower in pace (which we love) and doesn't have the tourist activity St. Augustine and Daytona Beach has.  Having Flagler Beach close by adds to the "Old Florida" vibe as well.  Most people think of Florida and think of the Orlando area, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale or inland rural areas.  This is what I used to think which made Florida not a consideration.

That said, summers (between June and September) are hot months up here but it quickly cools off in mid October through mid May which makes these 7 months ideal.  Hopefully we all find the places where we love to live and make the best of it as we can.  However, this group of golfers is terrific and one of the things I do miss moving to Florida.

For some odd reason, I thought you moved to the panhandle area. I haven't given the northeast coast a fair shake. Of all of the other regions, I've liked the Naples/Ft Myers/Sarasota stretch the best. I'm also totally fine if I never have to go near Orlando ever again.

Regardless, I'm very much a mountains and snow person. 🙂

However, I have to cut my grass later today.  😉

If you let that grass sit, will it go away when the sun hits it tomorrow?  I am enjoying snow over grass right now, but like magic, when I get sick of snow, it will be time to mow again... seems like this happens every year.

Anybody else getting any good golf stuff as holiday presents?  I got myself a 2005 Cameron Holiday putter to add to the others.  I don't quite have a putter problem, but I am close.  I asked for ProV1 with my baseball number, but we'll see if they show up - if not, I will get some in January.

Major shout out to @Joelness for hosting me and my friend at Fox Hill yesterday. LOVED that place, and that was in December with constant 25mph winds for four hours, lol. Can't wait to see it in full glory next year. That's a pure golf paradise. Seemed like a perfect blend of Collindale and say a Highland Meadows: tree-lined parkland, superbly walkable, great and fair test of golf like Collindale, but a little wider with a little more movement and mounding and interesting green complexes like a Highland Meadows. A wonderful combination. I continue to be impressed by the amount and variety of great golf in NoCO. @Joelness is the man for lots of reasons, one is his generosity as host, but another is that he is a great player who is eager to help without being arrogant or showy about it. Dude just wants to play golf and play with people who love golf. Oh, also he loaned me what appear to be a well-loved set of irons because they have the C-taper 125s in them, which I've been wanting to try and feel they may be exactly what I need. So thanks again, man! See you in the basement!

I'm glad you liked Fox as much as I do. Thank you for the amazing complements! Those Callaway's were my iron set from 2020 through June 2023 until I got the new Mizzy's.

You and everyone else is welcome in the basement any time. I've been working pretty hard the last 5 or so days getting my wrist a bit more extended at the top. It seems to have been working and thankfully not taken a million reps to accomplish. It's golf so I won't be perfect but it seems to be helping. I hope a little time in the basement during "swing change season" can help others as well. Last night a couple young'ins came over to get some swings and work on things.

Too bad for them I'll be gone the next week in Mexico and I'm not taking my clubs.

My father in law lives on the other side of Daytona from @RobotDoctor and every time we visit I really enjoy it. The town is called New Smyrna Beach and it's got that same low-key small town vibe. My wife and I really dig it, though we are also not planning on moving there any time soon.

I learned I am also a mountain person. After spending a month in swim trunks in Bali in Dec 2018 we made it to the mountains of Thailand and the feeling I had once we got there said it all for me. Beaches and the tropics are nice, but I'm bred for the mountains.

Can you still get balls with a certain number. I don’t care about personalization, but do like to choose my number (13).

You can with Titleist.  I imagine that the other brands do this too.  I usually wait for a buy 3 and get 1 free promo email from Titleist.  44 for me.

Thanks JDA. I hadn’t seen anything of that special for several years. Didn’t know they still did it. I’ll

have to stop up and see the pro.

Weekend looking near 60's and not a lot of snow on the ground.  Good news for this time of year. I was thinking we would have to start the 4 Mile Ranch pilgrimage early this year 😁

There's snow on the ground on the courses closer to the foothills still and they got more last night. Up north didn't get hit though.

@CDM and I are playing Highland Meadows at 9:50 on Sunday if anyone wants to join (the other 2 spots are still open). I imagine there will be a frost delay and we probably won't tee off till 11 or so. I least I am hoping because the greens will likely be frozen till at least 10:30.

Someone grab the TEE TIME ....!  Dont want @Dancin upset as I plan on shooting a 107 but I promise I will play fast, at least within 5.5 hrs  🤣

Played Legacy Ridge on Saturday. I had the opposite problem, couldn't get off the tee but short game and putting were on point. Almost holed out for eagle on 1 to start a with a tap in bird.  Double sandy on 10 and rolled in a 25'er on 16 for par (also up there for one of the dumbest greens in CO).

The greens were in great shape for this time of year. Rolled pure but were pretty slow for that course. Little bit of snow on the course and some rock hard greens on the front until they thawed out.

Shot a 74 and was really happy after not even touching a club for a month.

In preparation for Spy/Pebble/Spanish, I have been lifting weights again.  4 times on each individual upper body muscle group so far - core and legs are fine mostly from sprint intervals and running.  Irons are back to a full club longer now, in the winter.  Why am I so stupid and stop doing this?  Of course, this is just a rebuild and strength will level off soon, but I wish that I was mentally tough enough to just keep doing it.

So nobody jumped in with @Dancin and I for Highland Meadows on Sunday.

I guess we have offend you guys enough this year 😋

The good news, no frost delay, weather was perfect, the course was in great shape for this time of year and we were a two some.  The marshal made the lead group let us pass on 4 and we played in 3hrs... might have been just under actually.

99% sure that four some was not going to let us pass.....ever...

Dont worry though, there will plenty of chances next year for @Dancin and I to offend everyone  🤣

I would have loved to play but had stuff going on. Hit balls at Collindale Saturday and Sunday. I really don’t like hitting off mats, but it was fun to watch the ball fly. Played the front nine of Collindale yesterday. Beautiful weather. Course in good shape for Dec 19. I, too, benefited from some time off (and probably from playing Joel’s old irons, which I am liking). Hit 7 of nine greens. Stupid double on 8. Two birdies. a three putt bogey. 37. I was happy.

Glad you're still liking the irons @bobbyclampett!!

I spent the last week in Isla Mujeres with no clubs. Easily the best place in Mexico I have ever visited. Small island with incredible views, food, and an awesome vibe.

Got home Wednesday and got out there today. I chipped in on 2 and 4 for birdies but sadly didn't make a birdie putt all day. The highlight of the day was easily watching my dad (a 20 cap) hole out on 6 from 176. The first one he's ever had outside of 50 yards according to him. My wife and I saw it go in too so there was lots of screaming involved.

Overall I'm happy with the game and really surprised how well I'm doing with the changes I'm making due to the Hackmotion. I can't lose it all as I have a big pro-am at Wigwam in 11 days.

If anyone is up and wants to play fox the wife and I are going out at 10:27 tomorrow morning. They cut the greens while I was gone and they are pretty solid! They're still only rolling about a 9-9.5 but I'll take it for the shortest day of the year.

Did you swim with the nurse shark? Don't know if they still have it but they used to have a nurse shark in a penned area that you could swim down and look at it near where the coral reef snorkeling was

I've heard that nurse sharks migrate there but it's during the summer season. The coral reef snorkeling area is so large down there that I have no idea where you are referring to. I dove the MUSA museum and nearby reef zones but the ocean shelf is so shallow around the island and Cancun that you really can snorkel/dive almost anywhere.

I'm guessing they don't have it any more as that was over 20 years ago. They had a pier with a probably 40x40 foot netted area where a nurse shark was caged in and you could jump in and see it. I did like Isla Mujeres much better than Cancun. Really nice little island

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.

Thank you all for keeping this little slice of GolfWRX alive and kicking (and sane!). As I always say, I hope to get out and play with y'all next year.

I have a bay booked at Top Golf Centennial for 12/26, but it might be even too cold for my Swedish in-laws! 🤣
