Ty_Webb
I have had two. The first was in around 2001. Playing a club tournament and I holed a 5 iron up the hill. Didn't see it go in because it was semi-blind. I played four holes in level par with three bogeys. The second was in May 2018. On the 7th at Bethpage Black. I had 202 and hit a 3 iron. This one covered the flag the whole way, bounced at the front of the green and rolled and I watched it disappear. That was pretty damn cool. @Marrrk was playing with me so he can attest 🙂 One of my friends has been scratch for 35 years. He has no holes in one and one albatross. When he made his, he was playing a four-ball at Coombe Hill in London. I want to say it's the fourth hole, par 5. He made 2, two of the others made 3 and the last one made 4, so between them they played the hole in 8 under. It's not a long par 5, but it's not a cakewalk either. 1 Quote Ping G430 LST 9° Diamana white 63x Ping G410 LST 3 wood Diamana Thump x Srixon ZX Utility 19 C-taper S+ Srixon ZX7 4-AW C-taper S+ Vokey SM9 54F and 58C Odyssey Eleven Tour-Lined Slant

vbb
Congrats! I haven't had one or even witnessed one, though a playing partner did get within 6" going driver, 4 iron to a 530ish yard par 5 for a back of the putter tap in eagle. But to the OP, you are hitting some BOMBS off the tee to have such short distances in. That definitely increases your chances of making one quite a bit. I don't remember ever having sub 170yds in to a par 5 after a drive. Maybe I need to be up a tee box! 1 Quote Cobra King Speedzone 9* | Fujikura Atmos black shaft Cobra King Speedzone Big Tour 3W Cobra King Tec 2Hy JPX 850 4i | N.S. Mcgeeno
At my home course in 2021 I was the first person to ace one of our par 4's. 287 straight away par four. My ball landed on the fringe and the group knew it was going to be a good one but I didnt expect it to track to the middle-left hole location and drop. Amazingly enough someone else got it this year so my cool feat has been duplicated lol. I had a stretch of 11 months at the end of 2020 to 2021 where I had 3 aces (including the albatross at the home course). Before that I had gone over 20 years from my first one as a junior golfer.

progolferch
2 here. The first was a 9 iron from around 145 yards, years ago and the 2nd was with a 4 iron from 210. Both came more than a few years ago before rangefinders were a more common occurrence. Edited January 21, 2023 by progolferch

Blaiser
No joke (or cap, as the kids call it these days) the past 3 rounds I've played I was teased into thinking I might have made an albatross. Each of them exactly the same. Had the green light to go for the green in 2 and just absolutely flushed it directly at the pin. Each time I couldn't fully see the green so wasn't sure where the ball ended up, but I had that long walk thinking to myself "oh please just be in the hole" Each time I get to the green and don't see a ball anywhere. Excitement through the roof, walk to the hole praying to find a ball in there.......Nope. Ball ended up over the green. 3 freaking days in a row of getting juked. Even worse I didn't get up and down on any of them. Ho-hum pars in the end.

Briggs2158
I got one when I was learning to play. I hit a horrific worm-burner of a 3wood 2nd shot and it just went in. eric61
I don't have an albatross. I managed to turn the closest I've ever gotten to albatross into a bogey yesterday though... Par 5, second shot -- hit pretty much a perfect iCrossover 4 iron. Dunked it. But I guess it was coming in too hard because the ball riccocheted out wildly, up high and sideways, bounced off the green, down a hill and stopped where the short grass meets some thick rough. Third shot, I snagged my lob wedge in that thick stuff and duffed my chip -- it landed just short of the top of the hill and rolled right back down to my feet. Fourth shot, swung harder/steeper and wound up 15 feet past the hole. Two-putted from there. SDJohnson
I had one a number of years ago. 3 wood from around 220yds- bounced twice and slammed into the hole. I was playing with a buddy and we were paired with two others we didn't know. Immediately after holing out the beer cart drove by and we all celebrated with a drink. Everything was just perfect. The very next hole I hit my drive about 60 yards right of the ob stake and triple bogeyed. c.gomez
I got my first HIO and my only albatross 4 days apart, at the same course… Broadmore cc in Boise Idaho (parking lot now). when I got my HOI I called my dad because he doesn’t have a HIO but he has an albatross. I started the conversation, “hey dad guess what I did today”. He guessed right away that I made an ace, He was not happy, and says “that’s great but call me when you get an albatross” he was even less happy when I called him 4 days later and before he could say hello I cut him off with, “hey dad guess what I did today” I hit a towering 6-iron over some monster trees and I got to watch it roll 20’ and go into the cup. I love to tell that story whenever we are both on the course. Drives him crazy since he’s been playing for almost 60years
bladehunter
I have one. Ironically with a pw. Cut the dogleg on a par 5. One hoped a wedge in. Still no hole in one. But I came within 4 inches Saturday morning - again. I’ve had 7-8 near misses on that hole . There’s a backstop and the ball will come back to the front pin and stop. Congratulations OP. Mine was funny because it was into the evening sun. And I didn’t see it go in.
