New Rapsodo Product/Launch?

I saw MLM2 Pro has a new beta out for their simulation software. It apparently further improves the terrain to be more real and makes the ball physics more realistic. It looked pretty cool on YouTube. They really seam to be trying to beef up their own personal simulation. Makes me wonder what they have in mind as far as product expansion in the future.

To that point... anyone getting MLM 2 Pro to run on GS Pro or TGC 2019?

MLM2 has been running on GSPro since last summer. At first it was using a bridge device like a tablet, but within the last week a new direct bluetooth connector has come out that's really promising.

Is the bluetooth connection native in the MLM 2 Pro app and then connecting to a Laptop? Or can you please direct me where to learn about this?

Yes I use it. I’ve used it with speed sticks and also with driver. Mine seem pretty close and if anything are a bit slower with driver.

For example when I hit on the range I’ll get driver swing speeds faster than I can get when swinging driver for speed training. Which doesn’t seem likely based on effort being put in.

The swing speed reading is likely wrong when not hitting a ball. I see the same issue with PRGR launch monitor when doing dry swings. It reads swing speed around 10% slower when not hitting a ball. When in reality I can definitely swing the club 10+ mph faster when not hitting a ball.

It's a community developed connector, not official through the app. More info in this video and you can find more on the SGT Discord.

Confirmed a second time via Rapsodo customer service, they have no ETA on the titliest balls… I will call that bad news. Current Callaway balls are chewed up and need to be replaced.

What is the latest people using an eBay ball marker and sharpie, does it work? Or unreliable and just shell out for the Callaway balls?

Sharpie will wear off immediately, either on the club face or the screen/net. Some people say they have had better luck with automotive paint pens, but even that's got mixed reviews from what I've seen. The sticker templates seem to be better, though definitely will not last as long as a legitimate RPT ball. They can't really be used in weather below 50 degrees either, as the sticker/adhesive seems to not work as well and you can get stickers flying off whole. This doesn't seem to happen above 50F. Additionally the stickers are really only decent if you're diligent about orienting the ball so you're striking white space. If you don't pay any attention, grooves will eat those stickers up very quickly. Definitely a decent budget alternative to RPT balls, but with drawbacks.

Personally, I just went ahead and ordered a dozen Callaway RPT, even though I'd prefer the ProV1s. They last far longer than the stickers and are more forgiving when playing with guests who aren't as diligent about orienting the ball to strike whitespace.

Kind of what I was guessing. I will give it a couple more weeks and then cave, haha

In either case, I definitely recommend being diligent about orienting the ball on each shot so that you're striking white space and not the dots. As a casual observance I think my the legit RPT balls lasted probably 3x longer when doing this. Also cycle through different white space on the ball so you don't get one spot with a ton of scuffs.

Interesting, never put any thought into that.

I have the Spornia SP8. It goes on a raw concrete garage floor. I thought the balls were getting chewed up from bouncing off the screen, have too much speed for their landing net, and touching the floor. I need to buy a carpet to put under the SP-8.

Oh yeah, bare concrete will eat those things up something fierce as well. If you do get some cheap carpet/turf to throw down under you're whole hitting area + being diligent with the ball, they should last you leagues longer.

I have the same net and it sits on an exposed aggregate patio/pool deck. Good call on the carpet or even one of those interlocking floor mats.

Has anyone tried normal Callaway truvis balls (like the soccer ball pattern) and compared the spin data with the RPT's? Is the data significantly worse? Is it any better than plain solid-color balls?

Saw someone on amazon selling the pattern with a special marker that the rapsodo picks up better. Seems like he's figured out the design pretty accurately enough that people in china are faking his ball marker system lol

I've only had my MLM2Pro for a couple weeks, so I apologize if these are dumb questions.

1) Is there a way to review the visual of range shots or course shots, like seeing the shot shape trace?

2) Is there a way to replay a course round for the Rapsodo courses?

3) I tend to have a fairly low launch with low lofted clubs. Is it normal to have some of those not read (driver, 3w, 4i especially)?

1) No, but you can change the metrics displayed so that you can get more of an idea of the shape, ie spin axis, yards offline, etc.

2) No

3) It is an issue with the MLM2, especially with the driver. If your launch is too low the driver head can actually obscure the ball from the camera and you get crazy 10k+ spin misreads. It does seem to really struggle to pick up really low shots like below 5* VLA. But to be fair you really should be launching around 10-12* with your driver and higher with other long clubs. Think of it as an incentive to work on your swing. If your driver launches significantly lower than that, you're leaving a lot of yards on the table.

I definitely have some work to do to get a positive AoA and proper launch angle. You're right, that'll motivate me to fix my swing. 😁
