Pulled the trigger last night. Went 125tx straight in. Looks like last time I was in trackman my numbers were as follows for a 7i:

182 carry, 91 CHS, 5200 spin (off mats), 18.9 launch, 126 BS and 116 height.

Think I’ll be ok straight in. Think my spin number would come up a bit on grass which would probably up my carry number. I went 4i 770 (1* weak), 5/6/7 MC, 8/9/pw MB.

That is funny!  I went in for a fitting Tuesday afternoon as I have these softstepped currently, by going non-soft stepped my spin went up.  Ordered a new set Tuesday night 4-7 MC 125TX and 7-P MB 125TX.  Wanted the option on the 7 iron so bought two!

I sure hope I get them as quick as you did.  Wow that was really fast.  You live next door to the facility or what.

I have had them for about 3 weeks now, but have only played with them once due to other obligations.  When they arrived 3 of the clubs were a full 1/8" too short.  I had to buy the three new shafts myself, but TM took care of me with a comparable $$$ amount of TP5x balls.

Since I had to reshaft three of them, I went ahead and did all 7 with BB&F ferrules and they turned out incredible!  The pic is the 5 iron before I turned the ferrules.  I will say, I've built probably a dozen sets of high-end irons (Miura, Scratch, Mizuno, other TM irons), and the P7MC's are the most consistent weight progression from head to head that I've personally seen... almost exactly 7g between every head.  I only had to add 2g - 4g per head to get swingweights to D3 (4-9) & D4 (PW).

Compared to my P750 Tour Proto's, the P7MC's look very similar at address, almost identical.  The MC's have a slightly straighter leading edge, and quite a bit more leading edge bounce (which makes them noticeably better through the turf for my slight "digger" swing).

Feel wise, the P750's feel mushier, more muted while the P7MC's have a really nice, dense "click" at impact, and maybe the best feel of any iron I've ever played when pured (subjectively, of course, but that includes Miura 1005CB's, 202CM/MB, the original tour issue Miura Forged TM RAC CB's, the 2005 Tour issue RAC CB.  Out of all of them, the original Tour issue TM RAC CB's are probably the closest in feel).

Hey, thanks!  Those are the longer BB&F Co. ferrules (St. Andrews model).  Not sure what the OD is, but they are a great fit with no need to turn them down.  I cleaned them up with some acetone after those pics, but didn't really need to take the OD down any.  ID is .355.

Hey Boyce - did you use anything to center them other than shafting beads as the stock ferrule from TM has the collared ferrule?  I pinged BBF to see if they had and collared option and they said nope.  They mentioned mentioned folks have been cutting the collar off and reusing when the BBF go on?  Sounds like a slick idea to help center.

Hey, I didn't notice any collars on the stock ferrules during disassembly, but they get pretty mangled from the heat of removal. I actually used shafting beads to strengthen the bond (a couple heads loosened on my prior 750 Tour Proto set)... but the centering was a nice benefit.  Honestly, I didn't have enough play between the shafts and hosel, except maybe on the PW, to really worry about centering.  I'd never used shafting beads before, and was initially afraid there wouldn't be room for the addition of the beads, but it's seriously like talcum powder.  I've been really happy with the build.  They turned out so solid, and swingweight perfectly with no lead tape (just 2-4g of tungsten powder in the hosels).

More than you asked for, but no, I didn't add any collars or try to save the TM ferrules.  The bore was the standard 45 degree campher, so I'm not sure why they would use collared ferrules anyway... you usually only see that on things like adapter hosels on woods and hybrids where there is a parallel campher slightly bigger then the bore of the adapter.

ok thanks - my BBF showed up so I am going to play with a couple of options.  I typically use shafting beads in everything.  It comes down to the hosel with the gap at the end as it supports the collared ferrule.  A buddy showed me a trick on how to cut the ferrule on an steel iron shaft to fit.  I will try this on a set of PXG's that will be my 3rd stringer set.  Thanks again for the info

I just received my other set of P7MB/MC Split on Monday from TM. I went with 7-4 in the MC and 7-p in MB so I have the option on the 7 iron.  Went with the MMT 125TX but not soft stepped, standard install.  Noticed after my first round with them that my elbows were sore this morning.  Hoping it might be a change in the weather.  Not sure that little change from the standard vs. soft stepped would be that drastic.  Will get in the sim a little to compare spins which was the whole plan to increase them with the MC for 7-4 iron.

Soft stepping won’t cure your pain. Have you considered going to a lighter weight shaft?

tried the 105's and they were horrible.  I will deal with the pain as it has been better.  When I put the MMT 125TX SS versus the KBS 130X, I did notice a big reduction in soreness.

Ordered a combo set of P770 (4-6)/P7MC (7-PW) a couple days ago after my failed T150 trial. I had the P770s for a spell earlier this year and absolutely loved the long irons, but didn't enjoy the shorter ones. Hoping this combo gives the best of both worlds. I'd been considering the P7MC for a while, but finally decided when it was evident the T150s just weren't going to work for me. They just wanted to go left on me. Thought it might be me, but took my T100-S irons out last night for 9 and just hit my stock fade. T150s built the exact same way. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, your constant praise on these P7MCs just pushed me over the edge the other day. Looking forward to them!

I am considering the p770 4 iron but I just love the way the 7mc 4 iron feels I don’t know if I can give it up.

off a tee, no problem, stripe it.

it’s the tight lie, over water to a par 5 that has me considering it…

Any updates? I don't understand why the P7MC/MB combo sets aren't more popular. I'm interested in maybe picking up a set with some MMT as my elbow is bothering me again. I'm a high ball hitter and wondering if I could get a set of 125 s-flex hard stepped once. Tried the 105 tx-flex in a set of callaway blades and seemed to be too much for me. Wonder why they don't offer a x-flex in the 105.

2 questions.

1. Looking to get a combo set of MCs and 770s. For those who have done the same where did you split them? Deciding between 4-5 in the 770s or 4-6. I game 790s now and am comfortable with my 5i, love my 6i, so thinking maybe go up to 6 in the MCs...will obv try to test for myself.

2. For those who have tried MMT shafts: I haven't been able to test these yet, so asking here. I have DG105 stiffs and while they've been great, my miss is left so am considering trying a heavier or stiffer shaft. I have read MMTs tend to play stiffer to flex, so wondering if I stick with those in 105s, go 105x since it is a bit heavier (but worried if it'll be too stiff), or just go 125s? I used to game Modus 120s (currently in my wedges) so it could be ok...but like the idea of going MMT 105 s or x in irons and 125s (maybe SS) in my wedges.

For Q1, I started out playing P7MCs in 4-PW and eventually have replaced the 4 and 5 irons with P770s. It was mainly through on-course play that I could see those clubs falling short of my target fairly often. I later confirmed this on a launch monitor where I would see maybe 5-7 yards drop-off on 6 iron mishit, but 10+ yards on 4/5 iron. I wouldn't mind having the P770 in the 6 iron, but I don't seem to need it. If there's no advantage to buying the full set upfront, you could buy P7MC 7-PW and see how you do before ordering the other clubs. I used to play P790s and you could probably play your 790 7 iron as your 6i in that setup for a short time.

Exactly what I just did. The 790 7i carries 10 yards more than the MC 7i. I don’t see anything wrong with bagging two 7irons.

Good idea. Did you adjust the lofts at all with the mixed set? Thinking of keeping MCs as-is and adjusting the 4i and 5i of 770 0.5º weaker to match what the MCs in those are.

I was planning to adjust the 5 iron loft slightly, but I haven’t needed to. I hit the 6 iron pretty consistently about 165-170 yards. The 5 iron goes about 175-180, so the gap works out. Truthfully, I don’t hit the 5i as much out of the middle vs. 6i, so the gaps work out ok.

Messed around at PGA SS hitting the ‘23 MC’s. No way am I good enough to play these…. I thought. I was hitting them better and more consistent than the 770’s. Yes, hated the KBS shaft in the 770 and loved the PX 5.5 in the MC. Just felt so good with consistent yardages. 7 iron numbers -  116 BS 19* launch 6900 Spin Carry 163. I did demo the 5 iron and PW. I could not believe how good I was hitting the MC 5 iron. Around 183 carry. That’s good for me. I get 185 from the PXG. 120  carry from the MC PW. Could the Foresight be off on the yardages? I was seeing 10k spin on the PW.

I am getting away from players distance irons like my PXG 0311P/790. Demo’d 923 Forged and getting 181 carry and not what I want from a 7 iron. ‘23 770 was good too, but did not enjoy the feel of them.

Want to pull the trigger, but scared the indoor trial will not relate to the course.

Having used irons that spin around 7000 on foresight indoors off mats, I personally think you’ll be frustrated outdoors. I think your real world yardage with that 7i will net out to be more in the 150-155 range. If you want to go with TM I would wait for the 760 replacement that is reportedly coming. For reference I find the Srixon Z forged 2 a good bit more forgiving and longer than the MC. The MC is as close as you can get to a blade while being a cavity. If you do it I would absolutely get 770 in the long irons. I’ve owned 2 sets of them. Love the irons but have to be realistic about what they are.

Appreciate the help and info. I am going to back to rent a bay and hit them again. Also to try the 770 some more.

Question, you mentioned the 760 are reportedly getting replaced, I thought the 770 were its replacement?

770 did not really succeed at being their replacement. They compete more with a t200 or 923 forged rather than a T100. I have heard something is in the works to be between MC and 770.

Can you please explain this a bit more? Like, why does a 'normal' spin rate on foresight / indoor / mats indicate lower outside yardage? Not questioning it, but i don't get the why.
